Happy Day!

28 Jan

Today is a happy day ๐Ÿ˜Š

I got a little surprise in the afternoon and I had dinner with my former work colleague whom I haven’t seen in months.

It has also been my first time to go to the mall near my office (since the political rally took place and closed off the streets). I have been looking for Maybelline products like the new (?) matte lipsticks, lip glossed and primer but most of them are not available. I finally found the bouncy blush (I know we’re so behind here) but it was almost US$ 15, so I did not get it yet.

I got other things though, which I really need.

I got Skinlite Make-up Cleansing Tissues in Cucumber, Maybelline Color Show in Buried Treasure, essence lip liners in In the Nude and Cute Pink and Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Elusive. I’m so excited with the Matte Balm as it is moisturising and pigmented. I really wanted the red colour (I didn’t get the name) but the colour pay-off was not that good. *** Please pardon the picture quality as the lighting is not good here.***

I’m so excited to try everything now ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway, how was your day, too? Hope you had a good one. Cheers!๐Ÿ˜Š

Weekend Collective Haul

8 Jun

Last weekend, I went to Central Chitlom (one of the posh malls here in Bangkok) to look for a birthday present for my boss. I was debating whether to get her a beauty product or a statement necklace, but I remembered that the last time I got her a beaded necklace, she only used it to the office once so I decided to get her a makeup item instead, of course with the hope that she ย makes use of it well. After going up and down the different department store levels and sections and checking out several makeup counters, I settled to give her ย Dior (not pictured). I didn’t get myself anything from any high end brand because I am saving it for duty free shopping at the airport when I travel next month.

As for my own goodies, I got mine from The Body Shop, The Face Shop and drugstores, Boots and Watsons.

The Body Shop

Shea Soap (I love its mild scent and its relatively moisturising effect.)

Shea Lip Butter (I had this ages ago so I thought it would be good to get another one again. I’m not liking its smell but it does relieve dry lips.)

Peppermint Intensive Foot Rescue (I only used it once but I’m partial to anything mint.)

Born Lippy Stick Lip Balm Pomegranate (I didn’t use it yet but swatched it at the store. It is very sheer, almost colourless.)

Some of the succeeding items are not tested nor swatched yet, so please pardon if I have no comments for other products enumerated.

Boots

17 Photo Flawless Eye Pencil in Black Blue

No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour in Temptress

Leif on Location 6-Piece Long Handle Brush Set (They’re very soft. I got this set for my trip next month.)

Revlon and The Face Shop Nail Polishes

Impulsive

– ย Fearless (Both Revlon polishes are really creamy and opaque. They got small and narrow brushes, though.)

Lovely Me:ex PK109

Lovely Me:ex WH002 (This bottle has no Lovely Me:ex label which is weird.)

The Face Shop

Herb Day Lip & Eye Makeup Remover (This smells good and is gentle, too.)

Honey BB (One of The Face Shop’s new products, its consistency is like a mousse unlike regular BB creams.)

Mini Pet Sweet (This is the newest variant in the Mini Pet series.)

Lovely Me:ex Happy Chu Lip in PK101 (It is a lightly-tinted lip balm which is comparable to its competitions, Companies E and T’s products.)

Lovely Me:ex Nail Polish Remover (It smells good and not drying.)

It’s the weekend once again but I will not be doing a lot of shopping for beauty items after this haul. Aside from not really needing anything, I should be saving for my upcoming trip because I am certain that I will not be able to hold off the urge to purchase when I go to the Philippines.

I am planning to make detailed reviews and swatches of these items (maybe not all of the products) but if you are interested with anything, please don’t hesitate to let me know so I can review it first.

Hope you all have a fun and productive weekend! Don’t shop too much ๐Ÿ˜‰

Revlon Whimsical

18 Apr

I finally got my hands on a Revlon Whimsical! Yay! I wasn’t expecting to see one at Watson’s but I was glad I did ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s a quick post with swatches using essence gel-look top coat and my Skinfood Gunnpang Nail (a matte top coat). I used Boots 17 Bolt from the Blue as the base colour since Whimsical is also more of a pastel blue colour.

I only used one coat of Revlon Whimsical since I don’t like to many glitters but I will try with a double or triple coat next time.

no top coat used

I was disappointed with the 17 Bolt from the Blue because it was so thick and sticky which makes the application hard to manage. It got streaky, too. ย This is my first time to try a 17 nail polish so I can’t really compare with the others. I reckon, though, that the bottle given to me was old (I just forgot to take a picture). ย I don’t think I’ll be using it again but I just couldn’t be bothered returning it to Boots. I’m not sure how customer services works in Boots,ย more soย with returning a used nail polish.

ย with essence gel-look top coat

essence gel-look top coat looks alright but I don’t think it made my nails extra shiny. It took forever to dry, too so bubbles formed. I thought it was dry after an hour but I still smudged my nail polish. My solution? I used Skinfood Gunnpang nail, a matte top coat. I just love this one because it dries fast and smoothens the streaky and smudged bits.

ย Products Used: Skinfood Nail Vita Base Coat, 17 Fast Finish Bolt from the Blue, Revlon Whimsical, essence gel-look topcoat, Skinfood Gunnpang Nail (not pictured but can be seen here)

I like Revlon Whimsical especially that it’s not overpoweringly glittery. I like the look of it thinly spread on the nails. I will be trying this again with a different base polish and top coat. I already got Revlon’s top speed top coat so I know I’ll be in good hands (pun unintended).

Have your tried Revlon Whimsical yet? Did you like it? Care to share?

Nail Polish Haul

13 Apr

Hi everyone! Before I forget, I would like to greet you all “Happy Songkran Day”. April 13-15 is Songkran Festival which is the Thai New Year. It is a popular time for water fightsย  fun and merriments but it is first and foremost a religious and cultural celebration. I will explain more about Songkran in my next post ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway, our long holiday officially started yesterday. Since I don’t want to get wet when I go out for the next three days, I decided to visit the mall and buy some groceries. I did not only bring home a week’s supply of foodย but also 6 bottles of nail polish as well. It’s not like I ran out of nail polish but I really can’t just resist them.

After not paying attention to Revlon and 17 nail polish for quite a while and having bought a lot of different Korean-brand nail polish, I gave them another look yesterday. It was not a bad idea at all since I discovered new colours and got away with new bottles again.

Here’s my humble haul:

Whimsical – Hazy – Ocean

I was glad I browsed throughย the Revlon counters at Watsons and Siam Paragon because I have finally gotten ahold of Whimsical! There were new colours available, too but I only got these three.

Sweet Kisses – Bolt from the Blue – Pink Lemonade

I also went to Boots to check out some items. Theyย have an ongoingย  “Buy 2 Get 1 Free” promotion so I checked out what I can get. Instead of make up, I decided to get the 17 nail polish because I haven’t tried it before. There’s not a lot of choices, though.

Was I happy with my little loot? Of course I am! I can’t wait to try all six of them. I have used Revlon Ocean, though,ย and I’ll do a separate post about it.

What’s your current favourite nail polish brand or colour? Care to share?

Original Source Mint and Tea Tree Gel

13 Apr

I also got the Original Mint and Tea Tree Gel sample from a swap with Raelessiย and seeing the words,ย “tingling” and “mint” on the sachet made me try it at once. I’m not sure if Rae remembered that I like minty flavours but I was really glad that she sent me this.

It’s hot and humid throughout the year here in Bangkok and it isย usually hotter around the months of March to May so this little goodie came at the right time!

Directions for Use: Original Source + Water = The Ultimate Wake Up Call

Review:

First Impressions: This shower gel had me at “7,927 Tingling Real Mint Leaves…” on its label, including the Original Source Guide printed at the back of the sachet which says “Natural Fragrances, Packed with Natural Stuff, Tested on Us… And Tingling Factor”.

Smell: Peppermint! I can smell it all day ๐Ÿ™‚

Colour: Translucent green

Consistency: It’s not too thick but is watery.

Tingling Effect: It was immediately cool after I lathered it with water and applied on the skin. It’s super refreshing and the tingling effect is especially feltย in the underarm, elbow and forearm areas (maybe because I washed these parts first and I have applied more shower gel in these areas). The cooling effect stays on the skin around 10 minutes (or more)ย after the rinse.

Other Effect/s: It’s not really that moisturising (it doesn’t claim to be such)ย but ย it is not drying; it is definitely a big plus. It is not itchy on the skin, too.

Price: I got this from a swap.

Availability: Our local Boots don’t carry this product. I wish it does soon.

Will I recommend?: Yes! You should try this refreshing shower gel. It smells so peppermint-y delicious too.

With the weather here registering almost 34 degrees Celsius everyday, this product was really a good relief for the heat!ย  How I wish I can find this here. Paging, Boots… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Do you love anything mint in your skin, body or face products? What’s your favourite?

Cheers ๐Ÿ™‚
