Waiting for my next Gmarket package

26 Jan

Hi! I’m back 😉

My Korean winter trip is coming up next month, so I found another reason to shop at Gmarket. Yes, I really can’t resist shopping and Gmarket  is so addicting, so I just placed my order earlier.

It was my plan to make a purchase at the end of the month but some items either got out of stock or changed into a higher price (promo event ended already) so for fear of frustration of items getting canceled, I decided to finally press the “pay” button of my shopping cart. If my calculations are right, I expect my haul to arrive sometime next week. Hopefully, I won’t pay extra duty tax this time. *fingers crossed*

I’m excited to receive two pairs of shoes, bag and some cosmetics and skincare from The Saem and Lacvert. 😀

As I will be going to Korea next month and another trip to the Philippines in July, I might force myself to go on a shopping diet. I haven’t finalised the rules for my “diet” though, if Gmarket is exempted from it 🙂 Oh I remember that in case I won’t have time to go shopping in Seoul (I will be joining a package tour so free time is close to nil), I’ll buy souvenirs from Korea in Gmarket just in time I visit home in July 🙂

But fo now, I can’t wait for my Gmarket haul to arrive.

Cheers 🙂

The Drama of My Gmarket Purchase

13 Oct

Date Ordered and Paid: September 28

Date Shipped: October 8

Date Delivered: October 11

It was an unsuccessful delivery so I have to get the package from the post office.

Date Received: October 12

This Gmarket purchase is by far the most eventful among my years of shopping online. It started with one of the items in my order sent late. Imagine this, I ordered and paid on the 28th of September but they delivered to the Gmarket warehouse only on the 7th of October. What was worse is that Gmarket did not answer my e-mails promptly, I was e-mailing and messaging them on the site almost every day but I did not  get any feedback (all my e-mails were answered when the parcel was already shipped). I even messaged the seller and I was told that it was already sent to Gmarket. I never really know what happened in between. At least, I already got it, right?

So, my parcel was delivered on October 11th BUT it was an unsuccessful delivery… I thought I was able to rejoice for finally receiving it but, alas! I have to pick it up at the post office and I have to pay customs duty and tax, oh even for delivery fee. It is only a 1.38kg parcel with items that only amount to USD30 that’s why I don’t get  it why I have to pay those additional fees. It is a tiny and light box and only a tad bigger than my melissa shoes box (check picture above)

My total order was only USD30 + USD15 for shipping (I even incurred a negative balance on Gaccount because I have to pay shipping surcharge) + USD30 (customs duty, tax, delivery fee, and taxi to the post office). I asked the EMS guy why I have to pay those fees but he said the Customs only does random checks and I was lucky (not his word) to have my parcel checked.

Anyway, enough with the ramblings. Or not… Check out the picture below and notice that the Customs opened my box and one of the boxes in the box.

Upon opening the box, you can see three separate packages. It contains…

… a small beige bag, 4 sets of IOPE Hydro Intense Softener and Emulsion samples and 2 tubs of Secret Key Snail + EGF Repairing Gel Cream (I got this on a buy one get one free promotion). I received no freebies or gwps.

Let’s take a closer look at my purchases.

IOPE Hydro Intense Softener and Emulsion

I got the IOPE samples from this seller and this is the link to the product.
The items are in good condition but there was 1/3 empty space in the box where the four sets were kept.
I have yet to test the products.

You can find this product here. (I think they sell this at a cheaper price now).

The Secret Key Snail + EGF Repairing Gel Cream was the culprit of my parcel’s late shipment.

This is also the reason why my order exceeded its weight.

This product wasted two-thirds of the box’s space. I actually put IOPE’s box here and it fit.

This box was also opened by Thailand Customs and I really wonder, up to now, what of this item made them decide to ask for customs duty and tax (Yeah, I still can’t get over the fact that I paid extra for this little haul).

I have used the product for one night so I still can’t tell what effects it has on my skin.

Beige Bag

I got this bag from this seller.

The bag looks alright, right? Look closely, though.

Upon close inspection in the bag’s buckle part, I noticed a tiny tear which I’m afraid might peel after some use. Some stitches are sewn messily and the buckle seems lopsided, too. This is a disappointing buy and I was really excited for this. Oh well, I got this at a cheap price but still… it’s just frustrating to receive a damaged item.

So, yeah, this is the drama of this Gmarket purchase. I am expecting another package arriving soon which is a bigger and heavier one. I just hope and pray that the post office won’t detain it *crossing fingers*. Anyway, albeit the drama and the extra payments, I will still continue shopping at Gmarket. I just love browsing at the site and I am tempted to buy all the time. I just hope though that everything will be a breeze and hassle-free next time.

Have you shopped at Gmarket?

Cheers!

Gmarket Discounted Shipping Charges

11 Oct

It is really addicting shopping at Gmarket.  Based in Korea, Gmarket is an online marketplace where anything that you need or may not even need can be found there – cosmetics, clothes, shoes, camera, house ware, stationery, accessories, and a looot more. For the past few months now, I have been surfing the site and checking all kinds of stuff. Buying make up and skin care products, along with other things, at Gmarket is relatively inexpensive especially if compared to their regular retail price here in Bangkok. Most items are cheaper by 50%, if not more, at Gmarket.

The shipping charges, though is a different story. Gmarket ships their items by EMS so they may seem a bit steep. But receiving your order in a matter of days  is definitely a plus, right? Recently, Gmarket announced an increase of 8.7% in EMS charges here.

But when I checked today, Gmarket is offering up to 50% EMS Shipping to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and all Region 1 countries (Cambodia, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam).  I live in Region 1 so I can avail of it. Yay! More shopping to do… oops 😡

This offer is valid from now until November 10th (18.00 GMT+9). Here is the link to the good news:

Online Shopping… Again :)

iheartkoreanbeauty little parcel

Yes, I am one impatient girl. Since my parcels from my ebay and Gmarket shopping haven’t arrived yet, I decided to buy a few things from Zhen of http://iheartkoreanbeauty.mybigcommerce.com/. I made my order on October 1st and received the parcel on October 8th. She posted the parcel on the 5th and I got it so quick. Not that I am complaining 😉

It is always a breeze ordering from Zhen, she is accommodating and regularly communicates with me; she also sends me photos of the parcel before sending them. She is also generous with samples and indulges me with freebies albeit a small purchase.

Anyway, let’s look inside the little box. You can see that all items are properly bubble-wrapped so you are assured that the products are safe from breakage or spillage.

Skin79 Special Clear Set

Charmzone Red Wine Set (Sample Size)

 the saem BB Cream

 Baviphat Snail Cure Mask Sheet

I haven’t tried any of the products since I just got them last Sunday.  I am keen to try the Baviphat Snail Cure Mask Sheet, though. I know there is currently a snail craze in the skin care world and I wanna join in the bandwagon hehe. I am actually eyeing the It’s Skin Creme d’Escargot since I have read rave reviews about the product. It’s a bit pricey but if it works on my oily/acne/sensitive skin, why not, right? 🙂

Like I said earlier, the seller is generous with samples…

Samples!

… and freebies! Well, I asked Zhen if I can have one Lee Seung Gi postcard and she was kind enough to include not only one but three (!) postcards. Yay! Thanks so much!

Lee Seung Gi is ❤

I know I am on shopping detox but I just can’t help myself. I am still waiting for my ebay and 2 Gmarket packages but I.should.stop.until.I.get.my.second.Gmarket.purchase.  😀

Skinlite Brightening Essence Mask

8 Oct

While browsing at Boots, I saw some Korean-branded mask sheets. There was a buy one-get one free offer so I decided to try this brand.

According to its package, Skinlite Brightening Mask is for “skin radiance ans brightening. It contains Vitamin B, E, Phyto Collagen and powerful natural moisturizers including Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (Licorice Root) and Portulaca Extract. This special formula helps retain radiant complexion and tones skin look younger and fresher after use”.

The mask is a little small for my face. Its holes for the eyes and mouth are round and big; the hole for the eyes is until around the middle of the nose while the hole for the mouth is about half an inch below the lower lip.

With a generous amount of essence, the thin mask sheet is not dripping. The essence’s consistency is a little sticky but it’s not uncomfortable on the face only on the hands but it’s okay because I can wash my hands anyway.

I left the mask on my face for 20 minutes (package says it can be left for 15-20minutes), I wanted to leave it longer but the chin part started to dry so I just removed it. I was surprised it dried after 20 minutes when it has adequate essence. Maybe the mask knows I want to use it more than the indicated time frame hehe 🙂

Skinlite Brightening Essence Mask did leave my face bright and fresh-looking. I got oily skin but my face did not become oily at all. I also did not feel any tingling or itching sensation despite a big pimple on my chin.

Oh, I suggest placing the mask in the fridge for a few minutes before putting it on your face for a more cool and refreshing “mask-ing” experience.

What’s your favourite mask sheet? Care to share?

Cheers!
