Peripera Rose Nail Polish PK019

14 May

Hi everyone! I’m back ūüôā I’m sorry for being MIA (again!) for a little over a week as I have been caught up with a lot of deadlines at work as well as other issues on the side. As I haven’t been able to fix some of the pictures for my blog entries yet, I’m doing another nail polish swatch again. I was planning to try playing with my new dotting tool but I still haven’t gotten the hang of using it, meaning, I still can’t create perfect dots, tsk.

Anyway, after wearing layers of glitter nail polish for the past week, I decided to just wear a simple (almost neutral) pink nail polish from Peripera with the shade PK019 (Peripera is a South Korean cosmetics brand). I reckon that a plain nail polish is easier on the eyes plus I really have no inspiration for a nail art these days.

Pretty Packaging

I love how they paid attention to the details of the brush handle and the packaging as a whole. It made the product look chic and special.

Product

Rose Nail Polish PK019 is a limited edition 2011 F/W collection. I also got PP109, which is a purple colour and you can see the swatch here. I got both colours from Gmarket. Unfortunately, Peripera is not available here in Thailand.

Claim

In Peripera’s page in Gmarket, it claimed that the Rose Nail Polish can be applied with only one layer, will dry after one minute and can last up to one week.

Result/s

I can really attest to all of their claims Рa thick stroke of the nail polish is really enough for one layer; it dried in around 1-2 minutes and it did not chip  for days. Although it comprises of a creamy and thick consistency,  it was easy to apply especially with the help of its flat, wide brush.

Peripera’s flat, wide brush vs. Revlon’s rounded, narrow brush

Here are some swatches…

with top coat  and flash

no flash

and I tried to put one coat of Revlon Whimsical on my ring finger

(I had to redo my ring finger because when I applied two layers of Whimsical, it got messy and was quite odd-looking. I should have just used one coat.)

Will I recommend/ buy again?

I got the Peripera Rose Nail Polish PP019 since November 2011 and it’s still in good condition consistency-wise. I do recommend this nail polish especially to those who are looking for a good quality product at a reasonable price (At Gmarket, three bottles are sold for KRW9,000 ~ approx US$8.14 + shipping, of course). I’m planning to buy more colours the next time I order from Gmarket.

Have your tried any of  Peripera nail polishes before? Care to share your experience?

Hope you all have a fun and stress-free week ahead!

Cheers ūüôā

Winter Trip to Korea

12 Jan

*please click picture to enlarge.

On the annual lucky draw during our company Christmas party last year, the grand prize at stake is a 5 day winter trip to Korea. I wasn’t really expecting to win because ¬†I didn’t win in our 2010’s party and I don’t usually win (except in 2011, I won THB5k worth of green fees on a golf course, dinner cruise for 4 from Banyan Tree Bangkok and Gmarket events) in raffle draws. BUT God is on my side that night, maybe He felt that I deserved it and so YES, I won!

It’s a trip for one person though and it’s a package trip so I won’t have much freedom to go shopping but it is a wonderful surprise for many reasons. 1.) I’ve been wanting to go to South Korea but I can’t go with my friends because I am afraid that my company won’t let me go on a long holiday. 2.) I want to go to Korea when it’s cold and my trip is in winter. 3.) I patronise Korean brands so I can’t wait to do a little shopping.

Some of the places in the tour itinerary are Nami Island, Mt. Seorak, shopping malls and attractions in Seoul and Myeong-dong, of course ūüôā

I really can’t wait. My trip is at the end of February. I’m not sure if it will still be that cold when I arrive. I have yet to prepare a lot of thingssss.

Have you been to Korea? Care to share some tips? ūüôā

Cheers!

Nail Polish Love: Nature Republic Color Waltz BL503

18 Oct

I love Nature Republic’s Color Waltz BL503. I bought this quite awhile back but I wasn’t too keen to use it because I thought it’s too “white”. But, no… it may seem pale or bordering on beige-y looking at the bottle but it turned out a nice light blue on my nails. The nail polish wasn’t that thick and creamy so it was a breeze applying it. I had to put three layers, though or it may look sheer.

My manicure lasted me a week as it didn’t chip easily. If you feel like having the same nail polish for a week then the Color Waltz BL503 is good. I can’t compare this with other Color Waltz nail polishes as I only have one from this line ūüôā

The Drama of My Gmarket Purchase

13 Oct

Date Ordered and Paid: September 28

Date Shipped: October 8

Date Delivered: October 11

It was an unsuccessful delivery so I have to get the package from the post office.

Date Received: October 12

This Gmarket purchase is by far the most eventful among my years of shopping online. It started with one of the items in my order sent late. Imagine this, I ordered and paid on the 28th of September but they delivered to the Gmarket warehouse only on the 7th of October. What was worse is that Gmarket did not answer my e-mails promptly, I was e-mailing and messaging them on the site almost every day but I did not  get any feedback (all my e-mails were answered when the parcel was already shipped). I even messaged the seller and I was told that it was already sent to Gmarket. I never really know what happened in between. At least, I already got it, right?

So, my parcel was delivered on October 11th BUT it was an unsuccessful delivery… I thought I was able to rejoice for finally receiving it but, alas! I have to pick it up at the post office and I have to pay customs duty and tax, oh even for delivery fee. It is only a 1.38kg parcel with items that only amount to USD30 that’s why I don’t get¬† it why I have to pay those additional fees. It is a tiny and light box and only a tad bigger than my melissa shoes box (check picture above)

My total order was only USD30 + USD15 for shipping (I even incurred a negative balance on Gaccount because I have to pay shipping surcharge) + USD30 (customs duty, tax, delivery fee, and taxi to the post office). I asked the EMS guy why I have to pay those fees but he said the Customs only does random checks and I was lucky (not his word) to have my parcel checked.

Anyway, enough with the ramblings. Or not… Check out the picture below and notice that the Customs opened my box and one of the boxes in the box.

Upon opening the box, you can see three separate packages. It contains…

… a small beige bag, 4 sets of IOPE Hydro Intense¬†Softener and Emulsion samples and 2 tubs of Secret Key Snail + EGF Repairing Gel Cream (I got this on a buy one get one free promotion). I received no freebies or gwps.

Let’s take a¬†closer look at¬†my purchases.

IOPE Hydro Intense Softener and Emulsion

I got the IOPE samples from this seller and this is the link to the product.
The items are in good condition but there was 1/3 empty space in the box where the four sets were kept.
I have yet to test the products.

You can find this product here. (I think they sell this at a cheaper price now).

The Secret Key Snail + EGF Repairing Gel Cream was the culprit of my parcel’s late shipment.

This is also the reason why my order exceeded its weight.

This product wasted two-thirds of the box’s space. I actually put IOPE’s box here and it fit.

This box was also opened by Thailand Customs and I really wonder, up to now, what of this item made them decide to ask for customs duty and tax (Yeah, I still can’t get over the fact that I paid extra for this little haul).

I have used the product for one night so I still can’t tell what effects it has on my skin.

Beige Bag

I got this bag from this seller.

The bag looks alright, right? Look closely, though.

Upon close inspection in the bag’s buckle part, I noticed a tiny tear which I’m afraid might peel after some use. Some stitches are sewn messily and the buckle seems lopsided, too. This is a disappointing buy and I was really excited for this. Oh well, I got this at a cheap price but still… it’s just frustrating to receive a damaged item.

So, yeah, this is the drama of this Gmarket purchase. I am expecting another package arriving soon which is a bigger and heavier one. I just hope and pray that the post office won’t detain it *crossing fingers*. Anyway, albeit the drama and the extra payments, I will still continue shopping at Gmarket. I just love browsing at the site and I am tempted to buy all the time. I just hope though that everything will be a breeze and hassle-free next time.

Have you shopped at Gmarket?

Cheers!

Gmarket Discounted Shipping Charges

11 Oct

It is really addicting shopping at Gmarket.  Based in Korea, Gmarket is an online marketplace where anything that you need or may not even need can be found there Рcosmetics, clothes, shoes, camera, house ware, stationery, accessories, and a looot more. For the past few months now, I have been surfing the site and checking all kinds of stuff. Buying make up and skin care products, along with other things, at Gmarket is relatively inexpensive especially if compared to their regular retail price here in Bangkok. Most items are cheaper by 50%, if not more, at Gmarket.

The shipping charges, though is a different story. Gmarket ships their items by EMS so they may seem a bit steep. But receiving your order in a matter of days  is definitely a plus, right? Recently, Gmarket announced an increase of 8.7% in EMS charges here.

But when I checked today, Gmarket is offering up to 50% EMS Shipping to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and all Region 1 countries (Cambodia, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam).¬† I live in Region 1 so I can avail of it. Yay! More shopping to do… oops ūüė°

This offer is valid from now until November 10th (18.00 GMT+9). Here is the link to the good news:
