Holika Holika Prime Miracle Snail Emulsion

9 Jul

I got the Holika Holika Prime Snail Emulsion in one of my Gmarket hauls. I got it because I have been curious of this line, I was in need of an emulsion at that time and I like anything snail.

the box (I’m sorry for the reflection)

the bottle (doesn’t it look like a space ship? :))

First Impressions: The box looks chic and even the packaging itself is pretty, despite it being made from plastic. It comes with a pump (I forgot to take a picture of it), so it is very hygienic.

Description: From the box – Total solution emulsion, which the included mucin found from the skin restoration effect of snail solves mixture of problems [sic]. I also found this description from an ebay seller: It controls dullness of skin, wrinkles, and trouble marks and contains 65% of snail mucin.

Directions for use: Pump an adequate amount of the product and apply it onto face after toner. Lightly pat your face for quick absorption.

Smell: I don’t like its strong smell which reminded me of a Chinese medicated cream like Chin Chun Su Facial Cream.

Consistency: It’s a little thick compared to typical emulsions that I own (which tend to be more liquid-y). It feels a bit heavy on the face, as if there’s no room for the skin to breathe. Even with air-condition on, I sweat as soon as I apply this on my face.

and absorbed

Experience with the product: Unfortunately, my face itched and broke out the first time I applied it. I gave it another chance after two weeks and used it only at night. Surprisingly, I don’t wake up an oily mess which is always good. It brightened my face, too. Although it gave me a temporary glow, that’s the only noticeable result I had experienced. I still get breakouts from using it that’s why I don’t use it that often.

*Please note that my personal review of this product might be different to yours, considering our different skin conditions (mine is oily and sensitive), weather conditions (it is hot and humid everyday in Bangkok), and whatnot. I am just sharing what I have personally experienced with two month’s use of this product.

I am still using the Holika Holika Prime Miracle Snail Emulsion but I don’t use it that often anymore.

Have you tried this product before or any products infused with snail mucin? What is your experience? Care to share?

Cheers! 🙂

Peripera Rose Nail Polish PK019

14 May

Hi everyone! I’m back 🙂 I’m sorry for being MIA (again!) for a little over a week as I have been caught up with a lot of deadlines at work as well as other issues on the side. As I haven’t been able to fix some of the pictures for my blog entries yet, I’m doing another nail polish swatch again. I was planning to try playing with my new dotting tool but I still haven’t gotten the hang of using it, meaning, I still can’t create perfect dots, tsk.

Anyway, after wearing layers of glitter nail polish for the past week, I decided to just wear a simple (almost neutral) pink nail polish from Peripera with the shade PK019 (Peripera is a South Korean cosmetics brand). I reckon that a plain nail polish is easier on the eyes plus I really have no inspiration for a nail art these days.

Pretty Packaging

I love how they paid attention to the details of the brush handle and the packaging as a whole. It made the product look chic and special.

Rose Nail Polish PK019 is a limited edition 2011 F/W collection. I also got PP109, which is a purple colour and you can see the swatch here. I got both colours from Gmarket. Unfortunately, Peripera is not available here in Thailand.

In Peripera’s page in Gmarket, it claimed that the Rose Nail Polish can be applied with only one layer, will dry after one minute and can last up to one week.

I can really attest to all of their claims – a thick stroke of the nail polish is really enough for one layer; it dried in around 1-2 minutes and it did not chip  for days. Although it comprises of a creamy and thick consistency,  it was easy to apply especially with the help of its flat, wide brush.

Peripera’s flat, wide brush vs. Revlon’s rounded, narrow brush

Here are some swatches…

with top coat  and flash

no flash

and I tried to put one coat of Revlon Whimsical on my ring finger

(I had to redo my ring finger because when I applied two layers of Whimsical, it got messy and was quite odd-looking. I should have just used one coat.)

Will I recommend/ buy again?

I got the Peripera Rose Nail Polish PP019 since November 2011 and it’s still in good condition consistency-wise. I do recommend this nail polish especially to those who are looking for a good quality product at a reasonable price (At Gmarket, three bottles are sold for KRW9,000 ~ approx US$8.14 + shipping, of course). I’m planning to buy more colours the next time I order from Gmarket.

Have your tried any of  Peripera nail polishes before? Care to share your experience?

Hope you all have a fun and stress-free week ahead!

Cheers 🙂

Tony Moly Nail Enamel NE03

14 Mar

Tony Moly NE03

I got this nail polish from this seller.

I got the Tony Moly Nail Enamel NE03 from Gmarket in October and I haven’t used it until three weeks ago. I just swatched it on my nail when I received my package and I thought it was too  loud for my liking and not very appropriate for work.  I actually didn’t realize that it was a neon pink when I ordered it.

When I go traveling or on the weekends, I use bright and colourful nail polishes. Since I went on a trip three weeks ago, I decided to give this Tony Moly nail polish another go.

… and the colour is so pretty pink! I really love how it’s not really a shocking or neon pink. Compared with the Gmarket picture above, my nails did not turn out THAT pink. I should have worn this ages ago. In different lighting, it looks like a muted fuschia pink or a reddish pink/ pinkish red? 😉 I think the colour made my skin tone, lighter and brighter. I really love it!

My quick review…

First Impressions: Like what I said in the beginning of the post, I thought it was too pink that it won’t suit my complexion.

Colour: It was supposed to be a neon pink but it turned out to be a muted neon pink. It gets reddish pink/ pinkish red in different lighting as I have noticed in my travel pictures.

Smell: It should be light, I did not remember anything bad about it.

Consistency: It was not thick and creamy, hence it was easy to apply. It did not turn streaky on my nails. Although it did not dry that quickly, there were no bubbles formed on the surface. The nail polish did not chip until the 3rd-4th day.

Availability: I got this off Gmarket but I am sure that the local Tony Moly shops here in Bangkok carry this colour, too.

Have you tried this colour or the Tony Moly nail polishes yet? How did you find it?

Cheers! 🙂

First ebay Shopping

29 Sep

I love receiving snail mails, parcels or packages which I don’t get that often anymore.

Then I got (kinda!) addicted to shopping online. The whole process of ordering, waiting and arriving of my purchase is truly an exciting moment.

I’m not into ebay simply because I haven’t really took time to browse the site, so when I had the chance to navigate myself around ebay and read some reviews, I finally gave in.

I purchased twice but chose really inexpensive items. In case they get lost in the mail it wouldn’t hurt my pocket as much.

Anyway, I was happy to receive my second purchase yesterday; it arrived after 7 days (seller is from Hong Kong) via air mail (shipping was for free!). The seller was really nice. They corresponded with me like informing me that I might receive the item late and the like.

I ordered four bamboo brushes but to my dismay, I got only three 😦 I don’t really mind since like I mentioned earlier I got an inexpensive item but I know that it is right to inform the seller about the lacking item. The seller offered to refund me some money for repurchase. At first, I was fine without a refund as long as they send me the missing item. According to him, it will take a longer time to process resending items; complicated stuff. So yeah, I’m fine with the refund then. Update: The seller, edarenus is really nice, like you can feel his sincerity. He gave me a refund which is almost 2/3 of what i paid for plus I got to keep the item. He was prompt, too; the refund was already done today. When I gave him a positive feedback in ebay, he gave me a 10% off coupon to his website, www.buyincoins.com. I appreciate his effort that’s why I am going to buy new stuff from his website.

I’m now thinking what to get for my repurchase hehe. This also means one thing – I will be looking forward to another parcel soon. Yay for that! 😀

Skinfood Aloe Water Eye & Lip Remover

22 Sep
Skinfood Aloe Water Eye & Lip Remover

Skinfood Aloe Water Eye & Lip Remover

I already ran out of my make up remover and what I have in stock is Skinfood Aloe Water Eye & Lip Remover. It comes in 100ml transparent plastic bottle.

From its label: Skinfood Aloe Eye & Lip Remover is a water-based remover with aloe ingredients to clearly remove color make up with a cool touch.

Its ingredients are Water, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water, Butylene Glycol, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Sodium Hyaluronate, Allantoin, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium Edta, Methylparaben, CI 42090, CI 19140

I know I should check what those ingredients are but I already tried the make up remover tonight.

It is wrapped in plastic and sealed so I’m certain that it’s new and unopened. It has a faint sweet aloe scent that you can smell only if you put the bottle close to your nose. I dabbed a few drops to a cotton pad and pressed it on my eyes for 5 seconds (or longer), it removed the eye shadow but not the waterproof mascara. I had to scrub mascara off of my lashes a few times. I have to use a lot of product to completely clean my eyes.

I tried to test Maybelline Volum’ Express Waterproof Mascara, Holika Holika Magic Pole Mascara and Holika Holika Enamel Magic Liquid Eyeliner on my hand and dabbed a cotton pad soaked in the Aloe Water for 10 seconds. It didn’t work instantly (see last picture below) so I scrubbed them off gently until they were completely removed.

This bottle is inexpensive (I got it from an online seller based here in Bangkok) so I don’t mind that it takes an effort for it to work. I’m still gonna use the product. After all, patience is a virtue, right? 😉
