the saem is coming to Bangkok

28 Mar

I just have to quickly post about this as I am so excited to read about the saem coming to Bangkok. YAY! It will be located in a new shopping and lifestyle complex called Mega Bangna which is opening on May 3, 2012. How COOL is that!!! I am familiar with some of the saem’s products and most of them are well-received, too. I am supposed to be on a shopping ban starting next month but I have to visit the store when it opens! 🙂

I will update you as soon as I find more information about the saem and Mega Bangna.

Cheers 🙂

Haul from Seoul: Etude House

27 Mar

This is FINALLY my last “Haul from Seoul” entry. Whew! Although, this collective haul is the first among my many purchases in Seoul, I post this the last since I bought a lot from Etude House. You see, Etude House is a fairly inexpensive brand in South Korea targeted to the young (but there are also products for the not-so-young anymore ;)) and I’ve been dying to get my hands on their well-received and cutely packaged products.

I bought my Etude House products in Everland Resort (yes, they there is an Etude House in Everland) and Hongdae.

Here are my Etude House goodies:

Bebe Foot Mask, AC Clinic Mask Sheet, Princess 3D Mask, Essence Masks

Quick Review: AC Clinic Mask Sheet

I tried it at the height of the breakouts on my chin. It did not tingle but I did not notice any immediate effects since I only used it once.

Petit Darling Nails Matte

To compare with the price here in Thailand, I got similar matte pink nail polish at THB200 (approximately US$7/ KRW7,000) and I got each of the matte nail polishes at KRW2,000 each (approximately THB62/ US$2). It is a little streaky when applied but it got smoother and cleaner when I put a matte top coat (Skinfood Gunnpang).

Total Age Repair Royal Cream, Missing You Bee Hand Cream in Rose and Acacia

Happy Teatime Waterproof Lip & Eye Remover Tissue

Happy Teatime Green Tea Cleansing Tissue

Quick Review: The green tea cleansing tissues smell so good and refreshing. It doesn’t sting and dry my face. Although, it easily removes traces of makeup and BB cream, this is not the only cleansing regimen I follow.

Petit Bijou Allover Spray in Baby Bubble

Quick Review: This is an allover spray, meaning it can be sprayed not only on your body but also on your clothes, pillows and room. I tested it in the shop and it smelled so clean and pure and I really regretted not getting one for myself.

Proof 10 Eye Primer

Quick Review: I love this! It does keep my eye shadow the whole day albeit my really oily face and super humid weather in Bangkok. This is really worth it. I should have gotten a back up.

And the freebies from Etude House…

Goodbye Pore Ever & Be Clear Moisturizer Samples

More Freebies and Samples

two mugs (yes, I brought them all the way from Seoul hehe), cotton pads, pear extract mask, stickers, baking powder pore cleansing tissue, Silk Scarf shampoo, Dressing Room lotion, Moistful toner and emulsion

Like all the other goodies I got from Seoul, most of what you can see here are for family and friends. I can do more comprehensive reviews, though, of the products which I quickly reviewed (except for the Petit Bijou spray) since they are mine.

Do you use Etude House products? Which products are your favourites? Care to share?

Cheers 🙂

Haul from Seoul: Nature Republic

27 Mar

Nature Republic is one of the Korean brands I was excited to visit when I was in Seoul. There is a Nature Republic here in Bangkok but there are only two branches and are located quite far from where I live and work so I had to definitely check out their products. Although many of their skincare products are raved about, I just picked up a few items. Like what I said in my previous entries, I was really careful to not exceed my luggage’s weight limit.

I went to two Nature Republic shops in Dongdaemun and Myeongdong.

Taken in Myeongdong

In the picture: Jang Geun Seuk, the Nature Republic endorser

Here are the products I got:

Blackhead Brake Clear Nose Patch, So Big Curling Mascara, Fresh Farm Cleanser – Rice

By Flower BB Cream, Jelly Drop Gloss

Given by Nature Green Tea Mask Sheets

Nail Polishes

And the freebies and samples are…

A box of cotton pads, snail therapy mask sheets, herblier cleansing tissues and some samples

I haven’t tried any of the products since they are (again) presents for families and friends. Have you tried Nature Republic products? What is your experience? Care to share?

Cheers 🙂

Kim Hyun Joong’s The Face Shop 2012 Calendar

27 Mar

I went shopping a few weekends ago at The Face Shop and among the many samples and freebies the sales attendant gave me was The Face Shop 2012 calendar featuring their endorser, Kim Hyun Joong. This calendar should be very precious to all his fans (including me hehe) out there as it contains his different pictures for every month. Like what I said in my earlier post, I will make an entry showing the pictures from the desktop calendar.

Anyway, here are the scans…I know we’re almost entering April but anyhow, enjoy! (Picture-heavy post, sorry)

the calendar and pictures

I decided to just combine two months in one picture because it’s going to be a really long post.

January & February

March & April

May & June

July & August

September & October

November & December

So, how do you like The Face Shop 2012 calendar? Which months are your favourites?  To those who want to see Kim Hyun Joong’s full pictures for each month, please just comment or email me and I’ll share them with you.

Snapshots from Seoul: Incheon International Airport

24 Mar

NOTE: Incheon International Airport is not actually in Seoul but in Incheon (a city on the northwest part of South Korea) but for the sake of uniformity of my travel accounts in Seoul, I’m keeping the same heading 🙂

Incheon International Airport is South Korea’s biggest airport and has been voted as “world’s best airport” for a few years in a row.

Like my other posts, I did not have enough time to explore the different places we have visited and that’s what happened with our airport experience, too. I wasn’t able to see all the wonderful facilities it offers like the spa, skating rink, museum, gardens, and even the duty free shops.

Oh, another good thing about the airport is the free WiFi which is tops! The airport has also a train that connects to the airport’s other boarding gates.

It was also a breath of fresh air to not experience a hassle with the check-in process (I was in a group tour and we check in as a group. It was a long and strenous wait when we departed Bangkok, not to mention the chaotic immigration queue which took over an hour) and the immigration queue was a breeze.

Anyway, I was really delighted to catch the cultural parade in the airport. It was an apt farewell to us, tourists, who were bound to boarding our planes and going back home.

They play the roles of King and Queen from the Joseon Dynasty

I may have only seen perhaps 10% of the airport but compared to all the other airports in countries I have been to, I can say that Incheon International Airport is definitely one of the best!

Which other airports impressed you? Care to share?

Cheers 🙂
