Weekend Collective Haul

8 Jun

Last weekend, I went to Central Chitlom (one of the posh malls here in Bangkok) to look for a birthday present for my boss. I was debating whether to get her a beauty product or a statement necklace, but I remembered that the last time I got her a beaded necklace, she only used it to the office once so I decided to get her a makeup item instead, of course with the hope that she ย makes use of it well. After going up and down the different department store levels and sections and checking out several makeup counters, I settled to give her ย Dior (not pictured). I didn’t get myself anything from any high end brand because I am saving it for duty free shopping at the airport when I travel next month.

As for my own goodies, I got mine from The Body Shop, The Face Shop and drugstores, Boots and Watsons.

The Body Shop

Shea Soap (I love its mild scent and its relatively moisturising effect.)

Shea Lip Butter (I had this ages ago so I thought it would be good to get another one again. I’m not liking its smell but it does relieve dry lips.)

Peppermint Intensive Foot Rescue (I only used it once but I’m partial to anything mint.)

Born Lippy Stick Lip Balm Pomegranate (I didn’t use it yet but swatched it at the store. It is very sheer, almost colourless.)

Some of the succeeding items are not tested nor swatched yet, so please pardon if I have no comments for other products enumerated.

Boots

17 Photo Flawless Eye Pencil in Black Blue

No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour in Temptress

Leif on Location 6-Piece Long Handle Brush Set (They’re very soft. I got this set for my trip next month.)

Revlon and The Face Shop Nail Polishes

Impulsive

– ย Fearless (Both Revlon polishes are really creamy and opaque. They got small and narrow brushes, though.)

Lovely Me:ex PK109

Lovely Me:ex WH002 (This bottle has no Lovely Me:ex label which is weird.)

The Face Shop

Herb Day Lip & Eye Makeup Remover (This smells good and is gentle, too.)

Honey BB (One of The Face Shop’s new products, its consistency is like a mousse unlike regular BB creams.)

Mini Pet Sweet (This is the newest variant in the Mini Pet series.)

Lovely Me:ex Happy Chu Lip in PK101 (It is a lightly-tinted lip balm which is comparable to its competitions, Companies E and T’s products.)

Lovely Me:ex Nail Polish Remover (It smells good and not drying.)

It’s the weekend once again but I will not be doing a lot of shopping for beauty items after this haul. Aside from not really needing anything, I should be saving for my upcoming trip because I am certain that I will not be able to hold off the urge to purchase when I go to the Philippines.

I am planning to make detailed reviews and swatches of these items (maybe not all of the products) but if you are interested with anything, please don’t hesitate to let me know so I can review it first.

Hope you all have a fun and productive weekend! Don’t shop too much ๐Ÿ˜‰

Cheers ๐Ÿ™‚

essence colour & go Where is the Party

11 Apr

Hi there! Here’s a quick post about a swatch of essence cosmetics’ colour & go nail polish, “Where is the Party”.

First Impressions: I love its holographic effect. It looks purpl-ish or green-ish in different angles and lightings or its a mix of the two colours together. I got it not only for the colour but also because the bottle indicates it is “a quick drying nail polish”.

Where is the Party on my nails

I admit that more than the holographic effect, I got this nail polish because of its claim to be “quick drying”. I experimented on it and applied the nail polish on my fingernails without a top coat. I let the nail polish dry on my fingernails and bubbles formed. I slept after leaving it for a little over an hour but I woke up in horror to see mattress marks on my nails. I was really disappointed ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I used the same nail polish on my toenails but I applied a layer of top coat. It was in good condition when I woke up!

I haven’t tried any other essence nail polishes so I can’t tell if the “quick drying” ones don’t really dry as fast as I expect them to be. ย I guess a top coat should be almost always applied for a better result.

Consistency:ย Its consistency is thick but is manageable to apply.

Smell:ย Faint or close to none.

Price:ย I got it at around US$3.00.

Availability:ย ย I have only seen essence cosmetics at Siam Paragon, I am not sure, though, if the sister malls of Siam Paragon carry essence, too.

Will I buy it again?: I am planning to get more essence nail polishes and try them out.

Have you tried essence nail polish before? Which ones do you recommend? Care to share?

2012 Easter Haul

9 Apr

After hearing Mass yesterday, I decided to go to mall called Central Ladprao. It is a shopping mall that is located far from my church (12 stations away from the underground train) but I decided to go there because church ended before 10am and mall opening hours start at 10am. Precious time is not wasted waiting for the mall to open since it is already open when I arrived.

My sole purpose of going to the mall is to purchase a new TV so I went to different shops and checked out different brands and types of TV with their different features. As much as I already want to replace my coloured-now-black-and-white-later ancient TV, I hesitated to buy yet because I want to take advantage of the 7% VAT refund I can claim with purchases made two months before my travel in July. So, I still have one or two months for tv-hunting…

After checking out the TVs, I browsed from different shops to check out if there are any good deals available. I was happy to control buying more nail polishes and clothes but I was still able to get a few items from Nature Republic, Topshop (not pictured), Forever21, and from a little accessory booth outside the mall.

Here is my humble Easter 2012 haul:

Nature Republic

Real Nature Charcoal Peel-off Pack, Original Power Blemish Ampoule, Fresh Deodorant Spray

Nature Republic

Given by Flower Cherry Blossom Mask Sheets, Snail Therapy Mask Sheet (a freebie), Nail Design Sticker, Jelly Drop Gloss

Forever21 love & beauty 3x magnifying mirror & tweezer set and earrings

I just got them all yesterday so I haven’t used most of the items except for the Blemish Ampoule and mirror set. Please let me know if you are interested for any product review.

Enjoy your Monday! Cheers ๐Ÿ™‚

Bashful Purple

Anne & Florio No. 71

I would like to introduce you to my new nail polish, Anne & Florio No. 71. I picked this from a Beauty Buffet shop; this company is based in Thailand selling a wide range of products – from make up, skincare and nail polishes to brushes and accessories. The lay out of the shop is pretty and bright with most of its products cutely packaged and relatively inexpensive. I’ll try to take a picture of the shop next time ๐Ÿ™‚ I used to own a few Anne & Florio nail polishes and this light purple colour (No. 71) is the newest one I got.

Here’s a quick review:

First Impressions: I love the colour! I got this at a time when I was into nudes and simple neutral colours.

Colour: Pale glossy purple

Smell: None

Consistency: Its consistency is light, a little watery but manageable. One coat will be a little sheer. I used two layers with a top coat. I removed the nail polish after two days so I can’t tell how long it could have lasted before it chipped.

taken with no flash

Price: THB65 (approximately USD2)

Availability: There are many Beauty Buffet shops scattered around the country. Some can be found in shopping malls and the others at BTS Skytrain stations. According to its website, there are 71 Beauty Buffet branches in Thailand.

Will I purchase again?: Yes, but I will get a different colour next time.

I wanted to show the number/ variant of the nail polish at the bottom of the bottle but my camera didn’t capture it ๐Ÿ™‚

Are you into pale colours too? What is your favourite nail polish colour? Care to share?

Cheers! ๐Ÿ™‚
