2013 Gmarket Haul #2

20 May

Image

I recently did another haul at Gmarket because it’s my birthday month. Yes, I need to justify why I am so I shop online plus I didn’t want to lose my membership status (with inactivity at Gmarket for 3 months, you lose your current membership status and become a NEW member again). So with this recent haul, I will finally be upgraded to VIP status next month, woohoo!

Anyway, on to my haul… let’s first start with my order dates and info…

Date Ordered and Paid: May 10

Date Shipped: May 15

Date Delivered and Received: May 16

It’s really amazing that everything was so quick, considering that right after I paid my order, Gmarket e-mailed and advised that there will be a delay of shipment (I assumed that there is an upcoming public holiday) which was perfectly fine with me. I also would like to applaud both Korean and Thailand post offices for a really efficient and prompt delivery. I got my order in less than a week. Bravo! Two thumbs up for them.

Before we check the contents of the box, guess who “sent” my package this time? 😉

Image

The postal box was so big (no. 5) because of the boxes but here are the packages inside.

Image

Let’s get started with the contents of the packages:

IT’S SKIN

Image

I got It’s Skin Power 10 Formula WH Effector with Arbutin Essence, Color Play Black Jewel Lip Rouse and Lady-holic Lipstick with three samples of Power 10 Formula YE Effector with Yeast Extract. All the products are bubble-wrapped and delivered quickly considering that I bought them during a sale.

HOLIKA HOLIKA

ImageI also ordered at a time when there was a promotion going on but this was the first package to be delivered (yeah, I check the status of my order all the time). The products I got from Holika Holika are Face to Change Color Control Cream (CC Cream), Daily Garden Lip & Eye Remover Acerola and Lip & Eye Multi-Base. The sample I received was a Face 2 Change Moist Cushion BB in no.21 which I will give away to my sister because it’s too light for my skin tone. I have tried using the CC Cream but I haven’t used it enough to write a proper review about it.

MIZON

Image

I got the Snail Recovery Gel Cream from Mizon. This is by far the only snail cream brand which I have repurchased again. With it’s 1+1+1 and discount price, it’s definitely a good buy PLUS it works wonders for my skin!

IMYSS

Image

I got the Imyss Beautytoc Lucky Gold Egg Vibration Foundation and Puff because I have long been curious with these vibrating foundation puffs. I have to admit though that the reason why got this particular brand was because it was inexpensively priced at around KRW12,000. I also bought a refill and I was disappointed how the refill wasn’t properly wrapped. It was just placed inside the plastic with the free mask sheet and lollies so it’s unhygienic but I can wash it anyway, so no big harm done. Aside from the free mask sheet and lollies, I also got a plastic cover featuring Kim Hyun Joong (when he was still endorsing Tony Moly).

YUMMY GOODIES

Image

I have started ordering food from Gmarket because most of these goodies can’t be bought here in Bangkok or priced at an exorbitant amount. I got Market-O Real Brownies (love it!), Market-O Classic Mini Chocolates, an assortment of potato and corn chips (I was expecting Sunchips because that’s what I thought I ordered but it’s alright), and Margarette (these are yummy peanut cookies). If for these delectable goodies alone, I can’t wait to make another order at Gmarket, lol.

Image

I love everything that I’ve got! Thank you Gmarket for an efficient service!

I was proud of myself, too for controlling my urge to buy more but as I check Gmarket all the time, I am eyeing more things each day. Shopping at Gmarket is indeed addicting but satisfying, too (except for my wallet hehe).

Have you tried shopping at Gmarket? What are your recent hauls? Care to share? Also, please let me know if you want me to review of any of the products I purchased. 🙂

Cheers, everyone! 🙂

Peripera My Color Lips No.21 Soul Pink

14 Jun

First of all, I’d like to say thank you to cocochanel for suggesting to review this lipstick and at the same time, my apologies for this late blog post.

Anyway, I’d like to introduce you all to Peripera My Color Lips No.21 (Soul Pink) lipstick. I got this lipstick when I went to South Korea months ago. I haven’t known of this brand before but I often see people buy this from Gmarket so I got curious. I took a chance to check it out when I saw it at a cosmetic outlet. I actually intended this to be a present for someone else but I decided to keep it for myself.

First Impression/s: Describing it as pretty is an understatement! It is amazing how this company paid a lot of attention to its aesthetics and packaging. Can you notice the details in the pink lipstick cap (cover?) which is engraved with flowers and if you are into pink, then you will be completely sold to this product! It looks really chic, too.

Scent: It has a faint rose fragrance. Once you apply it onto your lips, the smell fades so you don’t have to worry if you’re not into rose scents.

Hue: It’s No.21 – Soul Pink (I can’t read Korean but I checked the name online). As the name suggests, it is pink, a nude-y rose pink with tiny gold flecks. Its colour is very much similar to my lip colour, only it’s prettier.

natural lighting

with flash

Consistency/ Formulation: The lipstick is creamy and highly pigmented. It is a little shimmery because of the tiny, tiny gold flecks. Even without a lip balm, the lipstick was very smooth when applied on the lips. It is not drying, either.

Swatches:

Top: natural light with flash (swatch – shimmery light pink)

Middle: natural light without flash (swatch – looks more reddish pink)

Bottom: indoors with flash (swatch – old rose/nude-ish pink)

Staying Power: I rarely eat nor drink two hours after I wear it so it stays around that time. I haven’t worn it for a long time to test the amount of time it can last.

Price: KRW15,000 (approximately USD13)

Availability: It’s not available in Bangkok. It can be ordered online through Gmarket, though.

Do I recommend/ Will I buy again?: Yes. Its quality is worth your money, not to mention the really attractive packaging. I really regretted not buying more colours.

Have you tried this lipstick before? How do you like it? Care to share?

Friday is coming, hope we all have a lovely weekend!

Cheers 🙂

Peripera Rose Nail Polish PK019

14 May

Hi everyone! I’m back 🙂 I’m sorry for being MIA (again!) for a little over a week as I have been caught up with a lot of deadlines at work as well as other issues on the side. As I haven’t been able to fix some of the pictures for my blog entries yet, I’m doing another nail polish swatch again. I was planning to try playing with my new dotting tool but I still haven’t gotten the hang of using it, meaning, I still can’t create perfect dots, tsk.

Anyway, after wearing layers of glitter nail polish for the past week, I decided to just wear a simple (almost neutral) pink nail polish from Peripera with the shade PK019 (Peripera is a South Korean cosmetics brand). I reckon that a plain nail polish is easier on the eyes plus I really have no inspiration for a nail art these days.

Pretty Packaging

I love how they paid attention to the details of the brush handle and the packaging as a whole. It made the product look chic and special.

Product

Rose Nail Polish PK019 is a limited edition 2011 F/W collection. I also got PP109, which is a purple colour and you can see the swatch here. I got both colours from Gmarket. Unfortunately, Peripera is not available here in Thailand.

Claim

In Peripera’s page in Gmarket, it claimed that the Rose Nail Polish can be applied with only one layer, will dry after one minute and can last up to one week.

Result/s

I can really attest to all of their claims – a thick stroke of the nail polish is really enough for one layer; it dried in around 1-2 minutes and it did not chip  for days. Although it comprises of a creamy and thick consistency,  it was easy to apply especially with the help of its flat, wide brush.

Peripera’s flat, wide brush vs. Revlon’s rounded, narrow brush

Here are some swatches…

no flash

and I tried to put one coat of Revlon Whimsical on my ring finger

(I had to redo my ring finger because when I applied two layers of Whimsical, it got messy and was quite odd-looking. I should have just used one coat.)

Will I recommend/ buy again?

I got the Peripera Rose Nail Polish PP019 since November 2011 and it’s still in good condition consistency-wise. I do recommend this nail polish especially to those who are looking for a good quality product at a reasonable price (At Gmarket, three bottles are sold for KRW9,000 ~ approx US$8.14 + shipping, of course). I’m planning to buy more colours the next time I order from Gmarket.

Have your tried any of  Peripera nail polishes before? Care to share your experience?

Hope you all have a fun and stress-free week ahead!

Cheers 🙂

It’s Skin Power 10 Formula VB Effector

29 Apr

If I can ask Snow White’s evil stepmother’s magic mirror who the oiliest of them all is, I am certain that he will reply that it is me. I know I am being exaggerated but I do have a really oily skin. Living in a hot and humid country makes it all worse. I have tried a few skincare products to find the solution for this problem but to no avail.

When I read about rave reviews of It’s Skin Power 10 Formula VB Effector in blogs, I know I have to get hold of it, too.

It’s Skin Power 10 Formula VB Effector with Vitamin B6 is “an oil-free essence containing B6 which controls the secretion of sebum. [It] also balances the natural moisture and oils…”

First Impressions: It comes in a cute plastic container that doesn’t take up much space on my dressing table. It also comes with a dropper so more brownie points for being hygienic. The white dropper also comes with a cap to avoid getting dirty or dusty. Oh, ingredients and directions for use are all in Korean so it should be hard to those who can’t read Hangul (but Google can do the trick :)).

Smell: The only thing I don’t like about this product is it’s smell. It’s really meant to be odourless but the scent reminds me of hospitals. It’s a combination of a sterile smell, disinfectant and medicines. It’s not heady, though and I think, I’ve gotten used to it already 😉

Colour and Consistency: It’s also colourless and oil-free so it’s not thick like your typical essences/ serums. It’s watery and light. Since its consistency is light, after application, it is quickly absorbed by the skin in probably three seconds. The VB Effector on the skin feels cool (not alcohol-cool) that you can feel the skin “breathe”.

Directions for use: I use this product after applying toner. (For me, just 3-4 drops of essence are enough for my entire face. ) I gently massage it on my face and pat my face after so the skin can absorb it more. I let it set for a few minutes before I apply emulsion/ moisturiser.

Results: I have been using it for more than a week now and I can attest that this product works. I usually get oily after 2 hours of make up application and this little wonder has helped me become less of a greaseball. I can stay oil-free after 4-5 hours! How awesome can it be! When I feel that my face gets shiny, I just use oil blotting sheets and voila, there’s not much need to reapply more makeup (I use powder sometimes, though). I also noticed that my pores have gone smaller and my skin got brighter (although, I’m not 100% certain that this is because of the VB Effector as I am using other skincare products that claim to do these wonders).

Availability: I got my VB Effector from Gmarket. I’ve seen a Thai website for It’s Skin but I haven’t visited the physical store.

Price: US$10 (+ shipping and duty) at Gmarket. It’s THB950 (approximately US$31) in Thailand (as per It’s Skin Thailand website)

Will I buy again?: Yes, I will and I recommend it.

I’m really happy I found and bought this. It really works wonder on my terribly oily face. I should have gotten more bottles when I made my last Gmarket order.

*It’s Skin is a South Korean brand and the Power 10 line has many variants to suit many different skin needs such as whitening, hydrating, moisturising, and more.

What oil control products do you use and work well? Care to share?

Hope your Sunday went well. Cheers 🙂

2012 Gmarket Haul #3

20 Mar

Date Ordered and Paid: March 8

Date Shipped:  March 14

Date Delivered: March 17

(I have to pay duty, tax and fees so I have to pick it up at the post office AGAIN)

Date Picked Up: March 17

Total cost:  Gmarket (approx USD40) + shipping (approx USD20) + Duty, etc  (approx USD40)

Total Weight:  2.72Kg

I chose not to write immediately about my Gmarket package because I want to avoid a lengthy ranting post. And YES, I was again disappointed of paying so much at the post office just to claim my detained package.

Since I have started buying from Gmarket, it was only once that it was delivered at my apartment. I know that Thailand has rules but it can get so frustrating… I also don’t understand how they assess the value of the products for they don’t open my boxes anymore (they opened only my first package from Gmarket). Like this recent haul for instance, the value that Gmarket declared was USD40 (which is the truth) but the post office’s assessment was USD100 and duty was computed from the value of the items in the package. Duty is a whooping 30% of the declared value. So for this haul, I paid more for the products I bought. Good times, eh?!

Anyway, I stop with my ranting and let’s proceed with what I bought. This haul was mainly skincare and cosmetics. I know I shouldn’t be buying from Gmarket since I just came back from Seoul but I realised that most of the products I bought are for family and friends so I reckon that I should have my own goodies, too 🙂

Who sent my package this time? 🙂

Tee-hee 😉

Let’s have a look inside the box… Four different boxes mean four different sellers.

Let’s start with…

The Coogi Cleantox Foaming Cleansers have good reviews in Gmarket. It is on a 1+1+1+1 promotion . I have yet to try them.

The products that I got from Mizon are:

– All in One Snail Healing Cream on a 1+1+1 promotion (I have tried using the snail cream and I am liking it so far. Its formulation is light which suits my oily skin. I will make a longer review after at least two weeks use of the cream.)

– O’ Spa Interning Special Two in One Booster on a 1+1 promotion (This is a toner which is good for oily skin – as I have read from a user in Gmarket. I have yet to use it.)

– O’Hui Creamy Eyeshadow (I only swatched the eyeshadow and it is (a little too) shimmery and pigmented.)

Mizon delayed this entire haul. I was kinda disappointed since I have read about rave reviews about this seller. I was also expecting for some samples as I was keen on trying their other skincare products. Sadly, though there is none and they have been generous with other buyers. Anyway, I got good deals with the products so I’ll let it pass.

I was too overwhelmed with the many shops and products in Myeongdong that’s why I did not purchase from It’s Skin. Thanks to Gmarket I was able to try some products.

The products that I got are:

– Makeover Crack Color in Silver (This looks good in the pictures but when I tried it, it doesn’t crack as much as the other nail polishes. I will keep on trying though and experiment since it’s a really pretty and unique colour for a crack nail polish)

– Power 10 Formula VB Effector (This is the product that’s good for oily skin. I have yet to use it. I’m excited to try it!)

– Babyface Petit Blusher No. 4 (I love it’s coral color. I haven’t tried it but I swatched it on my hand and it looks good. The package is just so cute to ignore :))

Here are the freebies that It’s Skin sent me:

– Power 10 Formula GF Effector (It’s for supplying moisture to skin. I haven’t tried it)

– Mini Bebe Hand Cream

I like Holika Holika products so these are what I got:

– Jewel Light Waterproof Eyeliner No. 5 (I have swatched this in the Holika Holika shop and I like the color and how easily it glided on my skin. I  have yet to try this on my eyes. )

– 3 Seconds Starter Hyaluronic Acid (I really wanted to get the Collagen type but I clicked on the wrong one but it’s alright. I have yet to try this, too.)

– Prime Miracle Snail Emulsion (I have tried the emulsion on my hand and it has a light feel, not thick and sticky. It has a faint fragrance that I don’t like, I can’t quite tell what it is, though. I haven’t tested it long enough to know if the smell fades.)

I was surprised to see this in the box as I don’t remember ordering it :). So, it’s a freebie, yay! It was made in 2010 or 2011 I think, so it should expire soon. I have tried this twice and it was a breeze using it. It’s not really too brown so it looked natural on the eyes. Just a little dab of the brush on the gel liner would go a long way. I know I should finish this soon but I don’t know when I can. It’s a good product but they don’t sell this anymore. This doesn’t come with a brush.

More  Holika Holika freebies and samples: Makeup Starters, a box of cotton pads, a sample toner and emulsion of Black Caviar Wrinkle Recovery, and Luminous Silk Starter for BB sample (this is one of the new products).

Yay for the samples and freebies again. I also would like to commend Holika Holika for delivering the goods so promptly. I ordered when it was on sale so I have expected them to deliver the products a bit late. I was surprised to see that these were the first to arrive in the Gmarket warehouse. I super recommend Holika Holika. It’s Skin was fast, too 🙂

So, that’s my Gmarket haul for this March and my 6th or 7th order from Gmarket since last year. I am not a Gmarket-addict, right?!

Please let me know which ones you like me to review, as well as the links for the products.

Have you tried shopping at Gmarket? Care to share your experience and haul?

To Gmarket users in Thailand, are your Gmarket packages detained in the post office, too? How much extra do you have to pay? I really appreciate if you share your experience. Thanks.

Cheers, everyone! 🙂
