Gmarket Haul 2014

5 May

Gmarket is one of my fave online shopping sites and yes, I often buy from them. If I am not mistaken, this haul is my 3rd for this year (and it is only May hehe).

This is the first time I try to buy only from one shop so it is relatively the smallest (in terms of box size) haul I made. Tony Moly had a shop sale then so I decided to grab that chance to score some savings. I got mostly makeup (as if I am in dire need of them haha), lip and eye makeup remover and a peeling gel.

Here is my loot:

My Two Weeks in (Nail Polish) Colour

2 Jul

I was clearing and organizing my nail polish stash when I realised I haven’t used at least a third of the bottles in my collection. Some nail polishes were just swatched or used only once. I definitely need to show them some lovin’ so I decided to change my nail polish colour at least twice a week.

So here are the colours I wore for the past two weeks:

LA Colors Color Craze Polish 2011 Aztec Orange

Ordered from Cherry Culture, I have just recently used this. This nail polish actually looks redder  in real life but my camera picked it as orange (well, it is named Aztec Orange, right?) because it has gold flecks. I liked its consistency – thin but not watery; it was an easy and quick application. It came a little sheer than what I have expected but three coats can do the job. I only used two coats, though. Be careful when you smell it (I have a tendency to smell things, lol) because its typical nail polish scent is so strong and heady. Anyway, I changed it before it chipped so I can’t tell you exactly how long it could have lasted.

Price: US$ 1.50 + shipping

Availability: I purchased it online but I saw it at one of the malls here (with limited colours) and is priced at approximately US$ 10.00

Tony Moly BK01

This is the first time in my life to wear a black nail polish (not counting the black crack nail polishes I used before) and I was surprised that I liked it. It made my hand looked so bright, too so thumbs up for this. The Tony Moly BK01 is a creamy nail polish but it was a breeze to use, it never came out streaky. I used two coats with base and top coats.

Price: THB 90.00 (approx. US$ 3.00)

Availability: It can be found in Tony Moly shops and online.

Revlon Fearless

Revlon Fearless is also a creamy nail polish which is so pigmented. I only used one coat and the colour is similar as the bottle. This red nail polish may have a hint of orange in it but so far, this is one of my favourite red nail polishes. Its consistency is a little thick but it was easy to apply considering its formulation. One thing I don’t like about it is its small narrow and rounded brush but I’m sure it can work out somehow like I did. I actually got a lot of compliments when I wore this at work.

Price: THB 139.00 (approx. US$ 4.50)

Availability: It is sold at selected drugstores and Revlon counters in leading department stores.

The fourth nail polish I used is Holika Holika No.11, it is a creamy gray nail polish. I already made a separate post about it here so please check it out if you want to see how it looks.

If you would ask me what my favourite among the four is, it is the Tony Moly BK01. I was just surprised that a black nail polish would suit me and that I didn’t get any bad comment from the people around me, like it was just so natural. 🙂 The colour was a little flattering for my skin tone too. It did not only make my hands look brighter and fairer, but it was of good quality and reasonable price, too.

Do you like to apply nail polish? What’s your current favourite? Care to share?

Hope you all have a good week ahead!

Cheers 🙂

When I’m Bored with My Nail Polish… #4

5 Apr

Some nail polishes last me more than 3 days and on days when I easily get bored with my nail colour yet lazy with doing the whole nine yards of cleaning my nails and changing the nail polish, I just think of ways to change the look of my nail polish. You can read the entries for No. 1 here, No. 2 here, and No. 3 here.

4. I attempt at nail art.

Tadaa!

This is my first ever attempt at a “proper” nail art. I know it’s not perfect and not very original but I was proud of myself. I never thought I could do something like this because I can be really clumsy at times. So, now… I’m inspired to try more. I have to perfect my dots first 😉

I was wearing my Skinfood Gunnpail Nail No.2 (matte hot pink) for three days and the nail polish on my thumb started to chip. At first, I planned to just use a crack nail polish to give it a different look but when I was youtube-surfing the other day, I found some dotting nail tutorials without the use of the proper dotting tool. It seemed easy so I wanted to give it a try.

I started with painting a black nail polish diagonally near the tip. I used a Tony Moly BK01.

I love the combination of colours, it’s so rock chick! It’s even beautiful just like that but I wanted to try creating the dots. I only have a random, brand-less white nail polish so that’s what I used. For making the dots, I used a wooden cuticle pusher. I have yet to get the hang of doing the dots  as round as they should be. The trick is actually to hold the dotting object vertically but I forgot so please bear with my dots 😉

All done!

I noticed that the matte nail polish looked so pretty with a glossy top coat on. But yeah, applying a glossy top coat over a matte nail polish defeats the purpose for the matte effect, right? 🙂

These are products I used:

Tony Moly BK01, white nail polish, Skinfood Gunnpang Nail No. 2, Anne & Florio top coat, wooden cuticle pusher, cuticle oil (not pictured)

On my next “nail dotting” experiment, I’ll use the bobby pin. Its rounded tips should make good dots.

Have you tried dotting your nails or doing nail art in general? Care to share your masterpiece?

Cheers 🙂

Melted Chocolate on My Nails

20 Mar

So okay… they’re not actual melted chocolates but I just got a new crack nail polish from The Face Shop Crack Collection in BR801 and when it cracked on the nails, they look like melted chocolates. I looked for a “foil” looking nail polish from my collection and found a Caronia Golden Bronze which was given by a friend last Christmas.

I first painted my nails with Caronia Golden Bronze.

After my “foil” nail polish dried up, I applied a layer of The Face Shop Crack Collection BR801. I made sure to be quick and to get as much nail polish as it dries fast. I usually just put a layer of crack nail polish to have more “crack” effects later on.

I put a top coat after to give my nails some sheen, or else the crack effect would look matte.

So here’s how it looks…

They look like melted chocolates, don’t they? Or maybe it’s just me 😉

The products that I used are Tony Moly Nail Enamel Basic TC01 Top Coat, The Face Shop Crack Collection BR801, Caronia Golden Bronze and The Face Shop Nail Nutrition Coat.

So, how do you like crack nail polishes? Care to share?

Cheers 🙂

Haul from Seoul: the saem, Tony Moly and Watsons

19 Mar

I still have a few pending haul posts from Seoul and it’s taking me ages to finish them all so I decide to do a collective haul from the saem, Tony Moly and Watsons since I didn’t buy a lot from each shop.

Let’s start with the stuff I got from the saem. Aside from Lee Seung gi, the reason I went to the saem is to get their Beam Cream but there’s none so I browsed quickly from the shop and just got these items:

the saem products:

– China Bible Mint Tea Foot & Leg Heel Cream

– Snail Trio Hand Cream in Cherry Blossom

– 2pcs. of Ardent Lady Highshine Serum Rouge

The freebies and samples:

The olive mask was given at the entrance (To entice buyers to enter the shop, they give out free stuff by the entrance. This is a pretty common practice in Myeongdong). The chaga serum and ylang ylang cleanser samples were given upon purchase, while the pen was given on my way out. Who doesn’t love free stuff? 🙂

I saw a Tony Moly shop in Dongdaemun and the reason why I went in is to get the Backstage Gel Liner in black.

The freebie was given at the entrance… So, yeah… the skincare/make up shops in Dongdaemun also give freebies once you enter the shop.

Nothing else was given for free for I purchased only one item.

At Hongdae when I saw a Watsons, I just browsed quickly inside. When I went outside I saw these Organia foot creams at KRW1,000 won each so I bought two pieces 🙂

I can’t give you any reviews or swatches of the items here as they all presents to friends and family again. I just want to show you what you can get there, just in case you visit Seoul one of these days.

Are you familiar with the products I bought?

Cheers 🙂
