Haul from Seoul: The Face Shop

24 Mar

Like what I said in my previous posts, I consider The Face Shop as one of my favourite brands. I never get breakouts from its skin care products and BB creams, the few makeup I got from the brand work well and have good quality, and its price is reasonable. Kim Hyun Joong as an endorser is also a plus factor 🙂

Of course, I had to take the opportunity to grab my essentials when I went to Seoul a few weeks ago. Now that I am looking at the products I got there, I realized that I didn’t really get a lot and that Ishould have gotten more.

Anyway, here’s my haul:

The Face Shop Snail BB Cream

I have tried using the Snail BB Cream and luckily I don’t get breakouts from it. I am not sure if it healed my hormonal pimples because I have only tried it twice. It only comes in one hue and like other BB creams it blends with the skin tone. I set it with my MAC Lightful Marine Bright Foundation Powder but I turned pasty. I have yet to find its best setting partner.

Clean Face Spot Corrector, Mild Lotion, Mild Toner

These are my backup products. I am currently using the products from the Clean Face line because I have really sensitive skin and I suddenly got breakouts on my chin. These products (lotion and toner) are gentle to the face and don’t tingle. I also use the facial cleanser from the same line.

Clean Face Sebum Control Soothing Mask Sheets

I was sales talked by the SA to get these as well 🙂 I haven’t tried them and I hope they work.

Konjac Sponge and Blush Brush

I love the konjac sponge! I was also sales talked into getting this but it was good that I got it. I really like its soft, jelly-ish texture (Konjac is a starchy plant used in making flour and jelly) which is very gentle to the skin. I use the konjac sponge when I wash my face. The angled brush on the other hand is made from synthetic hair. It is not that soft but it is dense.

And for the freebies 🙂 The bubbly sales attendant, who I think is a high school student, was happy I gave in to the products she recommended me. She was fun to talk to and really friendly so I didn’t mind. In return, she gave me a generous amount of freebies and samples.

Free mask and samples of Intevia Cream and some herbal emulsion (I don’t know its name). Both cream and emulsion are not available locally.

Kim Hyun Joong stickers and post cards

Since my haul was over KRW60,000, I was able to apply for VAT refund (which I did not even claim) of KRW3,500. If I am not mistaken, the minimum purchase which entitles you for a VAT refund is KRW30,000.

I really did not get much, but I have already over-shopped here to compensate for the “mini” shopping I did in Seoul. I just can’t resist The Face Shop, that’s why 🙂

Shopping is fun!

Cheers 🙂

When I am Bored with My Nail Polish… #3

22 Mar

Some nail polishes last me more than 3 days and on days when I easily get bored with my nail colour yet lazy with doing the whole nine yards of cleaning my nails and changing the nail polish, I just think of ways to change the look of my nail polish. Read the entries for No. 1 here and No. 2 here.

Number Three: I crack ’em!

(Nail Paint by Barry M Instant Nail Effects – Crackle in Black Magic, The Face Shop Crack Collection BR801 and It’s Skin Makeover Crack Color PP02)

To give your two or three day old nail polish a new look, why not apply a crack nail polish to achieve a different look. Crack nail polishes come in handy on those lazy days. The effect doesn’t look as neat as you want it to be, but that’s the essence of it, to make it look “cracked”.

Here are some samples of what I did:

1. Caronia Frosted Beige

2. Caronia Sun Kissed

3. Caronia Frosted 24K Gold

I have already created a separate entry when I tried using my The Face Shop Crack Collection BR801 and you can read about it here.

How do you like crack nail polishes? Do you like the cracking effect?

Cheers 🙂

Weekend Shopping: Freebies

22 Mar

I’ve been shopping so much these days and just to give you a break from my haul posts, I’m showing you the freebies I got instead of the products I bought 🙂 Call me weird but sometimes I get more excited with the samples and freebies I get from my purchases. Samples are also great when I travel. Instead of lugging bottles and bottles of products on a trip, I bring the samples with me. Of course, it’s a good marketing ploy, too 😉 I have already bought full-sized products after trying out the samples given to me.

I went to Skinfood in Central Rama 3 just to check out some nail polishes and masks. I wanted to also see if the sales attendants have become “nicer”; I didn’t quite like the sales attendants in that branch because they are not that pleasant. The lady, last Sunday,  was not even smiling. She seemed unhappy for me to buy from the shop when I am the only customer inside. Anyway, I digressed…

So, at Skinfood… I got …again… three bottles of nail polishes (matte and glittery ones), foot masks, trouble clear spot patch and a pair of falsies ( I don’t know why I got falsies for I don’t even know how to wear them) and I was given a few samples.

Among the samples, I am excited to try the Pomegranate Scalp Care Hair Pack the most since I want to strengthen my hair and lessen hair fall. I hope it works because I am planning to get the full-sized shampoo and conditioner which are quite expensive at around USD30 each.

Saying that I love The Face Shop is such an understatement! This is one shop that I can’t resist. The Face Shop’s skincare products suit my skin and I like their makeup and other goodies, too.  So everytime a visit a shop, I just have to get something, even just a bottle of nail polish.

My favourite The Face Shop branches are in Siam Paragon and Central Rama 3. The sales attendants are friendly and pleasant to deal with. Last weekend, I went to The Face Shop twice! I went to two branches with the purpose of getting just nail polishes… again… and cleansing tissues but I left the two shops with MORE! For the two days that I shopped at The Face Shop, I got a body lotion, BB cream, nail polishes, cleansing tissues, eye liner, cleansing oil, and nose packs.

Oh there’s a promotion at The Face Shop that entitles one to get the freebies and gifts with purchases starting from THB800. You can check out The Face Shop Thailand’s Facebook page for more information on promotions.

For my freebies and samples…

Kim Hyun Joong desk calendar, a mask, box of cottons and a set of Rice Water Bright Cleansing Special Set

a travel neck pillow and mask

… and yes, there’s a poster, too 🙂 I will just do a separate post for the pictures of the calendar and the poster, just in case there are Kim Hyun Joong fans out there who are interested 😉 Shopping is twice the fun with freebies and gifts, eh?

Do you love samples and freebies, too?

Cheers 🙂

Melted Chocolate on My Nails

20 Mar

So okay… they’re not actual melted chocolates but I just got a new crack nail polish from The Face Shop Crack Collection in BR801 and when it cracked on the nails, they look like melted chocolates. I looked for a “foil” looking nail polish from my collection and found a Caronia Golden Bronze which was given by a friend last Christmas.

I first painted my nails with Caronia Golden Bronze.

After my “foil” nail polish dried up, I applied a layer of The Face Shop Crack Collection BR801. I made sure to be quick and to get as much nail polish as it dries fast. I usually just put a layer of crack nail polish to have more “crack” effects later on.

I put a top coat after to give my nails some sheen, or else the crack effect would look matte.

So here’s how it looks…

They look like melted chocolates, don’t they? Or maybe it’s just me 😉

The products that I used are Tony Moly Nail Enamel Basic TC01 Top Coat, The Face Shop Crack Collection BR801, Caronia Golden Bronze and The Face Shop Nail Nutrition Coat.

So, how do you like crack nail polishes? Care to share?

Cheers 🙂

When I’m Bored with My Nail Polish… #2

18 Mar

Some nail polishes last me more than 3 days and on days when I easily get bored with my nail colour yet lazy with doing the whole nine yards of cleaning my nails and changing the nail polish, I just think of ways to change the look of my nail polish. (Check my first post here).

Number 2: I use nail stickers.

(please excuse the price tag ;))

Nail stickers give a whole new look to plain nail polish. It is not only affordable but it is very easy to use, too. Nail stickers come in a wide range of imaginable designs.

My The Face Shop nail polish usually lasts me more than five days, so on the third day when I am bored looking at the same colour, I use nail stickers for a change. I just put the sticker on my nails in any way and number I want. There is no rule as to how you should put the stickers, so use your creativity when styling your nails.

Voila!

So, that’s how I styled my nails. Don’t forget to put a top coat on top (where else, right?;)) of the stickers to make them last longer.

Removing the stickers may be a little tricky, though, but a normal nail polish remover can do the job. It just takes extra time and patience 🙂

Have you tried nail stickers, too? Care to share?

Cheers 🙂
