MUA Makeup Academy Nail Varnish – Amaretto Crush

Hi there! It’s good to be back 🙂 Anyway, I just would like to share one of my favourite nail varnish from MUA Makeup Academy (MUA). I know this is not new but ever since I got this last year, I have been using it all the time. I just love the colour 🙂

Image

It is actually perfect for work because it is not too bright, hence, it is not distracting and doesn’t command that much attention. LOL!

Since I got this last year, MUA has already changed and enhanced its nail polish bottle. But yeah, here’s how the old bottle looks like.

ImageI was not really a fan of its brush as application tends to get streaky but I heard that MUA has changed it as well. I haven’t gotten a re-packaged MUA nail varnish so I couldn’t attest to that yet. But at GBP1.00, I surely can’t complain much.

Hope you all have a cheerful and rosy week ahead!

Cheers, everyone! 🙂

2013 Gmarket Haul #1

22 Feb

Image

Hola! I’m finally (hopefully!) back in the blogging world. I know I’ve been MIA for a looong time; life just got in the way ;). Anyway, I am back to share my first haul for Gmarket this year. I’m always excited when I purchase off Gmarket and waiting for my package always makes me giddy.

Date Ordered and Paid: February 11

Date Shipped: February 18

Date Delivered: February 21

I was extremely pleased with my order this time being so fast and drama-free. I would like to say I was surprised to see my package waiting for me at my apartment lobby but I was checking the tracking system all day yesterday so I was expecting all the glory that my Gmarket box represents. 🙂

Who sent my package this time?

Image

Love him! ha-ha

Let’s a look inside the box, shall we?

Image

…and the family picture of the boxes.

Let’s begin with:

Mizon All in One Snail Repair Cream

Image

Would you believe that I got this for a dollar (US$1)? This snail cream was one of the reasons why I opted to make a haul. This product is too cheap to pass. I haven’t tried this before although I have tried the Mizon All-in-One Snail Healing Cream which I really loved. Despite being on promotion, the snail cream was also delivered fast. I also found a Mizon seal indicating it’s authenticity in the box. So it’s a thumbs up, for me.

MP4 Player

Image

I was back to jogging on the weekends and although I can use my phone for my music, I needed a basic (and yeah, inexpensive) MP3 player to accompany me on my runs. Surprisingly, I can’t find one in my local Tesco so I decided to search for one in Gmarket. Designed in Korea and made in China, this no-brand MP4 player was easy to use. It was in Korean when I got it but then after trying and exploring it for an hour or more, I finally found the English language. It came with an installer CD but it can’t be read on my laptop but when I tried to put songs into it, it also worked. Oh, despite it being called an MP4 player, it is not compatible with MP4 format, but then again I only need it for my music. It came with earphones, lanyard, USB cable, cloth for wiping, wire holder and some downloading (?) coupons? (Note: If there’s anyone in Korea who wants it, please message me. I got so much that it will just be wasted here as I can’t use them)

Lotte Charlteok Pie (롯데 찰떡바이)

Image

Ever since I have tried, Samjin Charlteok Pie last year, I’ve been craving for this for a long time. It is rice cake that is covered and filled with chocolate. I like it a lot! One box comes with 6 pieces of pies. This seller shipped this so quickly as well.

Ryoe Hambitmo Herbal Shampoo and Conditioner

Image

I haven’t opened nor smelled it but I am excited to use it. I am in dire need of a herbal shampoo as I feel that I am having more hair fall each day 😦 I read that it smelled like ginseng which I don’t really mind because I have used a few herbal shampoos before. I’ll post a review once I use this shampoo and conditioner.

So that’s it! I really did not buy a lot this time, just goodies that I really need. I am looking forward to making more Gmarket hauls again. If you need links or reviews of the products, please do not hesitate to message me.

Hope you all enjoy your Friday and the weekend.

Cheers, everyone! 🙂

Holika Holika Prime Miracle Snail Emulsion

9 Jul

I got the Holika Holika Prime Snail Emulsion in one of my Gmarket hauls. I got it because I have been curious of this line, I was in need of an emulsion at that time and I like anything snail.

the box (I’m sorry for the reflection)

the bottle (doesn’t it look like a space ship? :))

First Impressions: The box looks chic and even the packaging itself is pretty, despite it being made from plastic. It comes with a pump (I forgot to take a picture of it), so it is very hygienic.

ingredients

Description: From the box – Total solution emulsion, which the included mucin found from the skin restoration effect of snail solves mixture of problems [sic]. I also found this description from an ebay seller: It controls dullness of skin, wrinkles, and trouble marks and contains 65% of snail mucin.

Directions for use: Pump an adequate amount of the product and apply it onto face after toner. Lightly pat your face for quick absorption.

Smell: I don’t like its strong smell which reminded me of a Chinese medicated cream like Chin Chun Su Facial Cream.

Consistency: It’s a little thick compared to typical emulsions that I own (which tend to be more liquid-y). It feels a bit heavy on the face, as if there’s no room for the skin to breathe. Even with air-condition on, I sweat as soon as I apply this on my face.

and absorbed

Experience with the product: Unfortunately, my face itched and broke out the first time I applied it. I gave it another chance after two weeks and used it only at night. Surprisingly, I don’t wake up an oily mess which is always good. It brightened my face, too. Although it gave me a temporary glow, that’s the only noticeable result I had experienced. I still get breakouts from using it that’s why I don’t use it that often.

*Please note that my personal review of this product might be different to yours, considering our different skin conditions (mine is oily and sensitive), weather conditions (it is hot and humid everyday in Bangkok), and whatnot. I am just sharing what I have personally experienced with two month’s use of this product.

I am still using the Holika Holika Prime Miracle Snail Emulsion but I don’t use it that often anymore.

Have you tried this product before or any products infused with snail mucin? What is your experience? Care to share?

Cheers! 🙂

Snapshots from Seoul: Gyeongbokgung Palace

9 Jul

It might have been ages since I went to South Korea but as I was browsing through my folders of photos and unpublished entries, I realised that I wasn’t able to post this yet. I felt that I still should show them to you because I liked this place. Like the other places  of interest we visited in South Korea, we did not spend that much time here so my documentation is incomplete. Nevertheless, please indulge me 🙂

Gyeongbokgung Palace is right beside the National Folk Museum of Korea so we did not enter by the main gate. It was kind of unfortunate since I was looking forward to seeing the changing of guards. Anyway, there’s always a next time, right? I’m not sure which gate we entered but it was not far from the Queen’s Quarters.

Located in northern Seoul, Gyeongbokgung Palace is the main and largest palace built by the Joseon Dynasty. It was really awesome walking at the palace grounds seeing the different buildings and rooms with its intricate designs (where around 40% were restored to its original state after being nearly destroyed by the Japanese) and knowing that this ancient glory is actually right in the middle of a vibrant and modern city.

Here are some of the photos I took… Please enjoy and be transported to South Korea’s Joseon Dynasty…

how colourful and unique is this roof !

beautiful buildings

Gyotaejeon – The Queen’s Quarters

Gyeonghoeru – Royal Banquet Hall

Geunjeongjeon – Throne Hall

Geunjeongmun – the main gate to the courtyard and Geunjeongjeon (Throne Hall)

Gyeongbokgung Palace is right within the city, a perfect mix of the old and the new.

Palace grounds

outside the palace… and some random Han River pictures (taken from the bus ;))

If ever I go back to Seoul, I will definitely revisit Gyeongbokgung Palace and explore more of the history behind the buildings and the palace itself. My friends and sister have been here and I know there is also a place within the palace grounds where you can “borrow” a hanbok (traditional Korean dress) for that most memorable photo opportunity!

Gyeongbokgung Palace is definitely a must-visit in Seoul, especially if you’re into history and culture or just a plain Korean drama fangirl 🙂 I think there are quite a few sageuk (historical dramas/ plays) shot here.

Aside from shopping, what do you look for and are eager to experience when you travel to a foreign country? Care to share?

Hope you all have a good Monday!

Cheers 🙂
