Goodies Swap with ChromaMeSilly

1 May

I love seeing packages waiting for me when I get home from work and I am just as excited to open the box as soon as I get to my apartment. I got a lovely surprise a few days ago when I finally got my package from Tiny T of ChromaMeSilly! Yay!  THANK YOU so much for the lovely goodies! I like them all 🙂

The first thing that I noticed when I got the box was this label:

Lost in Translation 😉

I found it really funny that the package was missent to Tokyo. There was nothing in the box that indicates Japan or Tokyo at all so I don’t really know why it had to travel all the way there.

Anyway, let’s see what wonderful treats I got…

Goody Doublewear 2 in 1 Head Wrap and Necklace – essie Mint Candy Apple (my first essie, yay!)

eos lip balm in summer fruit – eos everyday hand lotion (I also haven’t tried both, I’m so excited!)

Bath & Body Works

japanese cherry blossom triple moisture body cream – japanese cherry blossom fragrance mist – apple blossom citrus supercharged body scrub (I was so surprised she got me cherry blossoms, I’m really into cherry blossom scents and flavours at the moment. Cool, eh?)

be enchanted body lotion – warm vanilla sugar bubble bath – sleep body lotion – fresh and flawless face mask (I always enjoy using Bath & Body Works and it will be a first for me to try the face mask and sleep body lotion. Everything smells so good!)

Lip Products

elf studio Glossy Gloss in dragon fruit – elf 3-piece hypershine set in cherry pie, berry cherry and cherry tart – CO Bigelow Apothecaries Mentha Lip Tint in Magenta Mint (I love this product so much, I was surprised and pleased at the same time that she got me this because I just used up my old tube a few days ago!) – CoverGirl natureluxe Gloss Balm in 220 peony – Milani Crystal Gloss for Lips  in 17 Baby Love

elf studio blush in candid coral – Milani Runway Eyes in 03 Bronze Doll and 09 Caribbean Sea – CoverGirl Eyeshadow Quad in Q270 blue notes (Again, I was really surprised how she kind of knew I was looking for blue eyeshadow. It’s really amazing how we sort of had a telepathy.)

Bath & Body Works pocket bac anti-bacterial hand gel in fresh lavender, paint the town red strawberry kiss and BeeNice honey berry including a holder (I just love hand sanitizers! :))

Slatkin & Co. scented candles in Candied Sugar Plum and Winter Cabin

Once again, I would like to thank Tiny T for sending me all these wonderful goodies. I can’t wait to using them. I was  also so surprised of how you kind of knew what I liked and needed. Thank you, too for agreeing to do the swap with me. I would love to do it again some time! 🙂

Makeup/ goodies swaps are just so fun! It always excites me to seeing products that are unfamiliar and unvailable locally to me. Have you done any swap before? How was your experience? Care to share?

By the way, if you would like to know what I sent Tiny T, you can check out the goodies here.

Hope you had a fun Tuesday and a good break today (to those who are celebrating Labor Day).

Cheers 🙂

It’s Skin Power 10 Formula VB Effector

29 Apr

If I can ask Snow White’s evil stepmother’s magic mirror who the oiliest of them all is, I am certain that he will reply that it is me. I know I am being exaggerated but I do have a really oily skin. Living in a hot and humid country makes it all worse. I have tried a few skincare products to find the solution for this problem but to no avail.

When I read about rave reviews of It’s Skin Power 10 Formula VB Effector in blogs, I know I have to get hold of it, too.

It’s Skin Power 10 Formula VB Effector with Vitamin B6 is “an oil-free essence containing B6 which controls the secretion of sebum. [It] also balances the natural moisture and oils…”

First Impressions: It comes in a cute plastic container that doesn’t take up much space on my dressing table. It also comes with a dropper so more brownie points for being hygienic. The white dropper also comes with a cap to avoid getting dirty or dusty. Oh, ingredients and directions for use are all in Korean so it should be hard to those who can’t read Hangul (but Google can do the trick :)).

Smell: The only thing I don’t like about this product is it’s smell. It’s really meant to be odourless but the scent reminds me of hospitals. It’s a combination of a sterile smell, disinfectant and medicines. It’s not heady, though and I think, I’ve gotten used to it already 😉

Colour and Consistency: It’s also colourless and oil-free so it’s not thick like your typical essences/ serums. It’s watery and light. Since its consistency is light, after application, it is quickly absorbed by the skin in probably three seconds. The VB Effector on the skin feels cool (not alcohol-cool) that you can feel the skin “breathe”.

Directions for use: I use this product after applying toner. (For me, just 3-4 drops of essence are enough for my entire face. ) I gently massage it on my face and pat my face after so the skin can absorb it more. I let it set for a few minutes before I apply emulsion/ moisturiser.

Results: I have been using it for more than a week now and I can attest that this product works. I usually get oily after 2 hours of make up application and this little wonder has helped me become less of a greaseball. I can stay oil-free after 4-5 hours! How awesome can it be! When I feel that my face gets shiny, I just use oil blotting sheets and voila, there’s not much need to reapply more makeup (I use powder sometimes, though). I also noticed that my pores have gone smaller and my skin got brighter (although, I’m not 100% certain that this is because of the VB Effector as I am using other skincare products that claim to do these wonders).

Availability: I got my VB Effector from Gmarket. I’ve seen a Thai website for It’s Skin but I haven’t visited the physical store.

Price: US$10 (+ shipping and duty) at Gmarket. It’s THB950 (approximately US$31) in Thailand (as per It’s Skin Thailand website)

Will I buy again?: Yes, I will and I recommend it.

I’m really happy I found and bought this. It really works wonder on my terribly oily face. I should have gotten more bottles when I made my last Gmarket order.

*It’s Skin is a South Korean brand and the Power 10 line has many variants to suit many different skin needs such as whitening, hydrating, moisturising, and more.

What oil control products do you use and work well? Care to share?

Hope your Sunday went well. Cheers 🙂

Weekend Haul at CentralWorld & Siam Paragon

22 Apr

Hi everyone! How did you spend your Sunday?

It’s a really hot today again here in Bangkok so after I heard Mass, I decided to go to CentralWorld and indulge in the mall’s free air conditioner and give mine a rest check out the USA Fair. There were booths ranging from American schools and airlines, to American Embassy and importers of American products. The products were on discount prices but as much as I want to hoard chips, chocolates and the like, I can’t because I recently had an acid reflux attack 😦 so I have to behave.

Anyway, on to my loot…

Bare Foot Softening Foot Lotion – Bare Foot Self-Warming Foot Scrub – Facial Peel-off Mask – Bare Hands Hydrating Hand & Elbow Butter – Feeling Beautiful Facial Clay Mask

I was really planning to buy the face masks at Boots but I can’t decide which one to get. I was happy I got them at a really good deal. I haven’t tried any of these products… I hope they work well. Have you tried any of them?

Finesse Volumizing Conditioner – Voortman Fudge Chocolate Chip Cookies – Finesses Volumizing Shampoo

I don’t know why I bought these three products but I grew up using Finesse shampoo and conditioner so I just want to smell and remember the good old times. Like I said, I can’t eat chocolates at the moment so I will just be sharing this pack to the office tomorrow 😉

I really wasn’t feeling that well so I did not make an effort to check out each of my favourite shops in the mall. On my way to the skytrain, I realised that I need to grab some soup, chicken and crackers so I went to Gourmet Market at Siam Paragon.

Aloe Vera Herbal Conditioner – Organic Virgin Coconut Oil – Aloe Vera Herbal Shampoo

I was glad I saw these three items. I was looking for fresh aloe vera because I recently have been experiencing hair fall so I should be using only herbal hair care products. I hope to see good results from using them. Do you use organic products as well?

The day went by fast and it’s back-to-work Monday tomorrow again! I hope you had a fun weekend. Are you looking forward to going to work tomorrow?

Cheers 🙂

Original Source Mint and Tea Tree Gel

13 Apr

I also got the Original Mint and Tea Tree Gel sample from a swap with Raelessi and seeing the words, “tingling” and “mint” on the sachet made me try it at once. I’m not sure if Rae remembered that I like minty flavours but I was really glad that she sent me this.

It’s hot and humid throughout the year here in Bangkok and it is usually hotter around the months of March to May so this little goodie came at the right time!

Directions for Use: Original Source + Water = The Ultimate Wake Up Call

Review:

First Impressions: This shower gel had me at “7,927 Tingling Real Mint Leaves…” on its label, including the Original Source Guide printed at the back of the sachet which says “Natural Fragrances, Packed with Natural Stuff, Tested on Us… And Tingling Factor”.

Smell: Peppermint! I can smell it all day 🙂

Colour: Translucent green

Consistency: It’s not too thick but is watery.

Tingling Effect: It was immediately cool after I lathered it with water and applied on the skin. It’s super refreshing and the tingling effect is especially felt in the underarm, elbow and forearm areas (maybe because I washed these parts first and I have applied more shower gel in these areas). The cooling effect stays on the skin around 10 minutes (or more) after the rinse.

Other Effect/s: It’s not really that moisturising (it doesn’t claim to be such) but  it is not drying; it is definitely a big plus. It is not itchy on the skin, too.

Price: I got this from a swap.

Availability: Our local Boots don’t carry this product. I wish it does soon.

Will I recommend?: Yes! You should try this refreshing shower gel. It smells so peppermint-y delicious too.

With the weather here registering almost 34 degrees Celsius everyday, this product was really a good relief for the heat!  How I wish I can find this here. Paging, Boots… 😉

Do you love anything mint in your skin, body or face products? What’s your favourite?

Cheers 🙂

Goodies Swap with Raelessi

7 Apr

I did my very first swap with Rae and it was really fun! I like getting surprises but it is twice the fun shopping and putting a package for friends. When I went to South Korea, I told Rae that I was going to get her some goodies that I think she might like. It was kind of just sending a care package for her but on her end, Rae was also collecting some things for me 🙂 We didn’t set anything for this swap, no price limit and date for sending the package nor did we request from each other what kind of goodies we want to receive.

My Lovely Goodies

Rae also sent me some easter chocolates but they all got squashed. I felt sorry for the chocolates so they are all recuperating in my freezer for a few days now 🙂 I was excited to see an Aero chocolate because I used to always buy it with my cousin when I was studying in Sydney.

I love Soap & Glory products especially its body butter, The Righteous Butter. The Hand Food is equally moisturising and smells so much like the body butter – sweet, fresh and citrusy combined. I was happy to get the Hand Maid, too since I haven’t seen any in our local Boots.

I haven’t tried a Natural Collection before that’s why I am excited to try this blush in Peach Melba. This line is also available in Boots in the UK but we don’t have this here in Thailand. Rae knows I like to try Sleek makeup products so I am extra pleased she sent me a Pout Polish in Peach Perfection. (I couldn’t get a proper picture for swatches but I’m going to upload it when I can).

I have also mentioned to her before that I love LUSH products but we don’t have them here in Thailand; that’s why I am so happy to get the LUSH Honey Trap Lip Balm. I super love it! It’s like having a minty white chocolate Toblerone on your lips. It doesn’t have a taste but the smell is divine! Although we have a Boots here, they don’t carry the 17 Mirror Shine lipstick in Belle so I’m excited to try another new lippie. I like it’s shiny blue packaging, too.

I was checking my make up case the other day and I realised I don’t have a mascara in dark brown. As if Rae had read my mind, she sent me the 17 Peep Show mascara in brown black. We don’t have this mascara in our local Boots, too. How cool is that? And speaking of cool, she also included a sample Original Source Mint and Tea Tree Shower Gel. I love anything in mint so I tried this immediately. I love it a lot too. It does tingle and render a cooling effect, albeit temporarily, but it is so refreshing! (I went to a Boots here but there’s none from this brand. I got a Boots mint shower gel instead but it cannot be compared to the Original Source one). Last but not the least, she also sent me a Cowshed Baby Cow Organics Milk Body Lotion. I haven’t used this for a long time but the best thing about this is that this product is “… paraben, petrochemical and sulphate free, suitable for vegetarians and contain certified organic ingredients”. That’s according to its label which is pretty good, right?

Once again, I’d like to thank Rae for these awesome goodies. I love everything! THANK YOU so much! You can check out Rae’s blog at Raelessi. International swaps and meeting new friends are double the fun!

Update: If you wanna see what I sent Rae, check out her blog http://raelessi.blogspot.com/2012/04/international-goodies-and-makeup-swap.html

Have you tried makeup/ goodies swap before? Care to share?

Cheers 🙂
