Weekend Collective Haul

8 Jun

Last weekend, I went to Central Chitlom (one of the posh malls here in Bangkok) to look for a birthday present for my boss. I was debating whether to get her a beauty product or a statement necklace, but I remembered that the last time I got her a beaded necklace, she only used it to the office once so I decided to get her a makeup item instead, of course with the hope that she  makes use of it well. After going up and down the different department store levels and sections and checking out several makeup counters, I settled to give her  Dior (not pictured). I didn’t get myself anything from any high end brand because I am saving it for duty free shopping at the airport when I travel next month.

As for my own goodies, I got mine from The Body Shop, The Face Shop and drugstores, Boots and Watsons.

The Body Shop

Shea Soap (I love its mild scent and its relatively moisturising effect.)

Shea Lip Butter (I had this ages ago so I thought it would be good to get another one again. I’m not liking its smell but it does relieve dry lips.)

Peppermint Intensive Foot Rescue (I only used it once but I’m partial to anything mint.)

Born Lippy Stick Lip Balm Pomegranate (I didn’t use it yet but swatched it at the store. It is very sheer, almost colourless.)

Some of the succeeding items are not tested nor swatched yet, so please pardon if I have no comments for other products enumerated.

Boots

17 Photo Flawless Eye Pencil in Black Blue

No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour in Temptress

Leif on Location 6-Piece Long Handle Brush Set (They’re very soft. I got this set for my trip next month.)

Revlon and The Face Shop Nail Polishes

Impulsive

–  Fearless (Both Revlon polishes are really creamy and opaque. They got small and narrow brushes, though.)

Lovely Me:ex PK109

Lovely Me:ex WH002 (This bottle has no Lovely Me:ex label which is weird.)

The Face Shop

Herb Day Lip & Eye Makeup Remover (This smells good and is gentle, too.)

Honey BB (One of The Face Shop’s new products, its consistency is like a mousse unlike regular BB creams.)

Mini Pet Sweet (This is the newest variant in the Mini Pet series.)

Lovely Me:ex Happy Chu Lip in PK101 (It is a lightly-tinted lip balm which is comparable to its competitions, Companies E and T’s products.)

Lovely Me:ex Nail Polish Remover (It smells good and not drying.)

It’s the weekend once again but I will not be doing a lot of shopping for beauty items after this haul. Aside from not really needing anything, I should be saving for my upcoming trip because I am certain that I will not be able to hold off the urge to purchase when I go to the Philippines.

I am planning to make detailed reviews and swatches of these items (maybe not all of the products) but if you are interested with anything, please don’t hesitate to let me know so I can review it first.

Hope you all have a fun and productive weekend! Don’t shop too much 😉

Cheers 🙂

Goodies Swap with ChromaMeSilly

1 May

I love seeing packages waiting for me when I get home from work and I am just as excited to open the box as soon as I get to my apartment. I got a lovely surprise a few days ago when I finally got my package from Tiny T of ChromaMeSilly! Yay!  THANK YOU so much for the lovely goodies! I like them all 🙂

The first thing that I noticed when I got the box was this label:

Lost in Translation 😉

I found it really funny that the package was missent to Tokyo. There was nothing in the box that indicates Japan or Tokyo at all so I don’t really know why it had to travel all the way there.

Anyway, let’s see what wonderful treats I got…

Goody Doublewear 2 in 1 Head Wrap and Necklace – essie Mint Candy Apple (my first essie, yay!)

eos lip balm in summer fruit – eos everyday hand lotion (I also haven’t tried both, I’m so excited!)

Bath & Body Works

japanese cherry blossom triple moisture body cream – japanese cherry blossom fragrance mist – apple blossom citrus supercharged body scrub (I was so surprised she got me cherry blossoms, I’m really into cherry blossom scents and flavours at the moment. Cool, eh?)

be enchanted body lotion – warm vanilla sugar bubble bath – sleep body lotion – fresh and flawless face mask (I always enjoy using Bath & Body Works and it will be a first for me to try the face mask and sleep body lotion. Everything smells so good!)

Lip Products

elf studio Glossy Gloss in dragon fruit – elf 3-piece hypershine set in cherry pie, berry cherry and cherry tart – CO Bigelow Apothecaries Mentha Lip Tint in Magenta Mint (I love this product so much, I was surprised and pleased at the same time that she got me this because I just used up my old tube a few days ago!) – CoverGirl natureluxe Gloss Balm in 220 peony – Milani Crystal Gloss for Lips  in 17 Baby Love

elf studio blush in candid coral – Milani Runway Eyes in 03 Bronze Doll and 09 Caribbean Sea – CoverGirl Eyeshadow Quad in Q270 blue notes (Again, I was really surprised how she kind of knew I was looking for blue eyeshadow. It’s really amazing how we sort of had a telepathy.)

Bath & Body Works pocket bac anti-bacterial hand gel in fresh lavender, paint the town red strawberry kiss and BeeNice honey berry including a holder (I just love hand sanitizers! :))

Slatkin & Co. scented candles in Candied Sugar Plum and Winter Cabin

Once again, I would like to thank Tiny T for sending me all these wonderful goodies. I can’t wait to using them. I was  also so surprised of how you kind of knew what I liked and needed. Thank you, too for agreeing to do the swap with me. I would love to do it again some time! 🙂

Makeup/ goodies swaps are just so fun! It always excites me to seeing products that are unfamiliar and unvailable locally to me. Have you done any swap before? How was your experience? Care to share?

By the way, if you would like to know what I sent Tiny T, you can check out the goodies here.

Hope you had a fun Tuesday and a good break today (to those who are celebrating Labor Day).

Cheers 🙂

GOSH Quattro Eye Shadow Q51 Angel Dust

13 Apr

I got the GOSH Quattro Eye shadow in Angel Dust on my first swap with Raelessi. It was my first time seeing a GOSH product so I was excited to receive it. GOSH Cosmetics is “a Danish-based hip and trendy cosmetics, bath & body, and fragrance company”.

Based on the website: “The Quattro is a four-colour combination with fantastic pearl pigments. It claims to have a soft and slightly creamy consistency, with unique colour intensity with either shiny micro-pearl effect or matt velvet finish, beautiful and long lasting, and contains no perfume”.

Here’s my review and swatches:

First Impressions: The colours look interesting but I don’t think I can pull off a look using all colours in one go. It came, though, with a little instruction on how to use all four colours. It also came with a sponge applicator. It doesn’t have a mirror and the case is quite big (around 2.5″ in diameter) and thick (almost a half inch in height).

Ingredients: Mica, Talc, Cetearyl Octanoate, Titanium Dioxide, Lanolin, Bronze Powder,  Iron Oxides, Ferric Ferrocyanide, Isopropyl Myristate, Aluminu Powder, Carmine, Propylparaben, Ethylparaben, Methylparaben, BHA, and Propyl Gallate.

Swatching Time!

Consistency: The eyeshadows are indeed soft. They are also pigmented. Just a light dab on the pan gives a good colour pay off.

Colour: Angel Dust came in four colours: pink (eyelid), yellow (highlighter), green (middle eyelid), and maroon brown (eye corner). This is what’s indicated in the instruction label but you can use the eye shadows separately.

Smell: No smell.

Swatch: no flash, no eye primer

Swatch: with flash, no eye primer

Swatch: no flash, with eye primer*

Swatch: with flash, with eye primer*

*I used Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer.

The eye shadows are really pigmented when I swatched them but when I applied the four on my eyelids or arm (as seen in the pictures), the colour really didn’t show. They just look like shimmers. I tried using all four on my lids but unfortunately the finished look doesn’t suit me at all, it came out too light and mostly shimmers. With my oily skin and high humidity here, I experienced that with a good eye primer, the eye shadows do stay long on the lids. They fade after 6 hours or so but they don’t crease and completely disappear.

To sum it up, GOSH Angel Dust is still a good quality eye shadow. I still use the maroon-brown-ish colour and the pink/yellow as highlighters. I think that this quad suits people with fairer skqin; I’m NC40 at MAC so the Angel Dust colours are too light for me. I am not sure with other GOSH eye shadow colours or formulations because I have only this one item.

Price: I don’t know. I got this quattro from a UK swap.

Availability: It is not sold in Thailand.

Will I buy/ try it again?: I’d love to try another eye shadow with a warmer hue, only if I can find it here.

Do I recommend?: The Angel Dust may be more ideal for fair-skinned people.
