MUA Makeup Academy Nail Varnish – Amaretto Crush

20 May

Hi there! It’s good to be back :) Anyway, I just would like to share one of my favourite nail varnish from MUA Makeup Academy¬†(MUA). I know this is not new but ever since I got this last year, I have been using it all the time. I just love the colour :)

Image

It is actually perfect for work because it is not too bright, hence, it is not distracting and doesn’t command that much attention. LOL!

Since I got this last year, MUA has already changed and enhanced its nail polish bottle. But yeah, here’s how the old bottle looks like.

ImageI was not really a fan of its brush as application tends to get streaky but I heard that MUA has changed it as well. I haven’t gotten a re-packaged MUA nail varnish so I couldn’t attest to that yet. But at GBP1.00, I surely can’t complain much.

Hope you all have a cheerful and rosy week ahead!

Cheers, everyone! :)

Snapshots from Seoul: Provence Village

15 Apr provence village - signage

NOTE: Provence Village is not actually in Seoul but in Gyeonggi-do (a province in South Korea) but for the sake of uniformity of my travel accounts in Seoul, I’m keeping the same heading.

map of the village

Hi everyone! Munching on some Korean strawberries brought me back to Korea and I reminisced all the beautiful places¬†I visited on my winter trip. It also made me¬†realise that I haven’t finished my posts on my travel to South Korea almost two months ago. So, here is one of our destinations…

Provence Village¬†is the very first place we visited after going out of the airport. I was really excited because I thought we will be going to Petit France. I was the first one to excitedly¬†get off the bus to look for the Little Prince-inspired landmarks and I realised we’re at the wrong place (Our tour guide was speaking in Thai so I couldn’t understand what he was talking about most of the time).

Anyway, Provence Village is a themed village to probably resemble¬†a little charming¬†French village. The area is not really that big and the whole “village” comprised mainly of quaint cafes, restaurants (I saw a shabu-shabu and French restaurants, among others), and shops selling trinkets, souvenirs, candies, and more. The¬†shophouses and cafes are uniquely painted in bright¬†colours, too. There is also a nice garden and a pond in the center. While there is not much to be done in Provence Village except for some casual dining and eclectic shopping (I espied on a Zara warehouse, too), there is plenty of opportunity for cam-whoring. I did, too :)

Here are some of the pictures… Enjoy!

charming cafes, restaurants and shops

I think it was only 3 degrees Celsius that time and coming from Thailand, it was a chilly day!

a sidestreet – cafe – more restaurants and cafes

the pond – “Vincent Van Gogh” house – and more shops

We only stayed there for barely half an hour and I have walked the center area thrice (I still didn’t make any friends with my tour group at this time so I was by my lonesome T.T). I guess when you’re with friends or special someone, you’ll see Provence Village differently. Looking at the pictures now, it actually seemed¬†a romantic place.

I will be definitely back next time :) Have you been to Provence Village? Which part/ area did you like? Care to share?

Cheers :)

GOSH Quattro Eye Shadow Q51 Angel Dust

13 Apr GOSH Q 51 quattro eyeshadow quattro angel dust

I got the GOSH Quattro Eye shadow in Angel Dust on my first swap with Raelessi. It was my first time seeing a GOSH product so I was excited to receive it. GOSH Cosmetics is “a Danish-based hip and trendy cosmetics, bath & body, and fragrance company”.

Based on the website:¬†“The Quattro is a four-colour combination with fantastic pearl pigments. It claims to have a soft and slightly creamy consistency, with unique colour intensity with either shiny micro-pearl effect or matt velvet finish, beautiful and long lasting, and contains no perfume”.

Here’s my review and swatches:

First Impressions: The colours look interesting but I don’t think I can pull off a look using all colours in one go. It came, though,¬†with a little instruction on how to use all four colours. It also came with a sponge applicator. It doesn’t have a mirror and the case¬†is quite big (around 2.5″ in diameter) and¬†thick (almost a half inch in height).

Ingredients: Mica, Talc, Cetearyl Octanoate, Titanium Dioxide, Lanolin, Bronze Powder,  Iron Oxides, Ferric Ferrocyanide, Isopropyl Myristate, Aluminu Powder, Carmine, Propylparaben, Ethylparaben, Methylparaben, BHA, and Propyl Gallate.

Swatching Time!

Consistency: The eyeshadows are indeed soft. They are also pigmented. Just a light dab on the pan gives a good colour pay off.

Colour: Angel Dust came in four colours: pink (eyelid), yellow (highlighter), green (middle eyelid), and maroon brown (eye corner). This is what’s indicated in the instruction label but you can use the eye shadows separately.

Smell: No smell.

Swatch: no flash, no eye primer

Swatch: with flash, no eye primer

Swatch: no flash, with eye primer*

Swatch: with flash, with eye primer*

*I used Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer.

The eye shadows are really pigmented when I swatched them but when I applied¬†the four¬†on my eyelids or arm (as seen in the pictures), the colour really didn’t show. They just look like shimmers. I tried using all four on my lids but unfortunately¬†the finished look¬†doesn’t suit me at all, it came out too light and mostly shimmers.¬†With my oily skin and high humidity here, I experienced that with a good eye primer, the eye shadows do stay long on the lids. They fade after 6 hours or so but they don’t crease and¬†completely disappear.

To sum it up, GOSH¬†Angel Dust is still a good quality eye shadow. I still use the maroon-brown-ish colour and the¬†pink/yellow¬†as highlighters.¬†I think that¬†this quad¬†suits people with fairer skqin; I’m NC40 at MAC so the Angel Dust colours are too light for me. I am not sure with¬†other GOSH¬†eye shadow colours or formulations because I have only this one item.

Price: I don’t know. I got this quattro from a UK swap.

Availability: It is not sold in Thailand.

Will I buy/ try it again?: I’d love to try another eye shadow with a warmer hue, only if I can find it here.

Do I recommend?: The Angel Dust may be more ideal for fair-skinned people.
